i love buffet
pj is my favorite hotel in bangkok for the following reasons: 1) walking distance to indra mall, pratunam market, platinum mall, big C, central world; 2) it has fitness center for my body building program 3) breakfast included in room rate is buffet; 3) affordable at 30usd/nite for 2 persons (based on my last check in last june 26, 2008 thru asiarooms.com; 5) i like the garden set up wherein there is beer drinking and mellow music at night yet so peaceful
Unique Quality: i love the buffet breakfast @pj.

Small hotel tucked away
This is a new hotel in what seems to have been an apartment complex. It's got decent sized rooms, an internet cafe, a cafe/bar/resto and a small spa as well.
The beds are clean, the staff friendly, and location (for shopping) pretty good. It's situated on one of the small streets so you may have to walk a bit to the main road to hail a taxi. It's too far to walk to the Skytrain from this hotel. Sometimes, I would walk to Indra Regent and hail a cab there.
If I were to stay in the Pratunam area again, I would probably select this hotel for the $35 dollar a night range.

Buffet Breakfast
Though the surrounding of the hotel is more of an eye sore, I would still recommend the hotel. The location is in pratunam, just walking distance from Central World Plaza (across Gaysorn and Isetan shopping malls).
I particularly liked the buffet breakfast of the hotel. It has a wide range of food. Rice, breads, noodles, fruits, salad, cereals, etc. the best breakfast i ever had in a hotel.

Great Location
I tried to avoid the Sukumvit tourist district. This hotel is ideal for shopping, entertainment, next to a canal boat stop, and not much further to the Skytrain and the local rail line. Small (abt 70 rooms) in 3-star class w Internet cafe and open-air BBQ in the evening (cheaper food in the many eateris along the road). Was recommended to me at an airport tourist service counter.
Unique Quality: Very simply the central location and fast access to the airport (about 30 mins drive).
THB 1600/single, THB 1700/double incl nice breakfast buffet.(DEC-04)

PJ Watergate Hotel! I am not sure that is the same Watergate Hotel located on Phechburi Rd., Pathunam. If this hotel is fine hotel but location is on the busy business zone. If you could pay for their room rate. why wouldn't you consider to pick up another location? Dusit Thani Hotel at the conner of Silom Road, close Sky Train Station and MRT. Dusit Thani Hotel's room rate is similar to PJ Watergate but more convenience.
Last August I stayed at Shangi-La near Choa Phraya River Rate US$125 a night and at Sheraton Riverside rate US$110 a night. They're better location than Watergate Hotel. You check their rate at www.asiarooms.com or www.precisionreservations.com I used them both during my visit to Southeast Asia in July and August.

dont know "pj" watergate. as others have said watergate on petchburi is part of amari hotels chain; amari.com; it is huge hotel, good for shopping areas.
