great hotel and ammenities
aslthough too far on a motorway in the North of bangkok, this hotel and its green properties are winning a great place in my experience and hearth! Great services, although the beautifull ladies at the Reception Desk are NEVER helpfull and always sleepy........and bored.....Otherwise all personal is great and aimable and serving and helpfull to all questions; if you need a good laundry at an unbelievable LOW price just get out by the gates and go on soi 24th (I think) where there is a normal LAUNDRY; otherwise the hotels; prices are enormous; lovely swimming pools and sports facilities, great thai restaurant in teh newest wing, great italian in the oldest, a bit weiord japaneses restaurant with some IMPOSED notes!
Rooms are big enough, and never markk on your door DO NOT DISTURB because you risk them not to mend it until the next day. Their 3 destinations free shuttles are amaing but you have to book a few hours in advance your places; in the week-end do not miss a shuttle andisit to the Chatuchak Marklet where you need strong nerves but you can find lovely items such are shoes on the thai northern style, etc.......
Unique Quality: a vasten hotel, you can breath inside, silent and relaxing!

Near airport
We had a comfy ride from the airport to the hotel in a Mercedes taxi with their driver.
It was a short drive which was good as we were very tired after almost 24 hours of flying.
Needless to say we could probably have slept anywhere but luckily there was a good bed.
The rooms were nothing special but clean. The lobby is pretty. Pleasant staff.
I noticed several fight attendants coming and going so some airlines must favor this hotel also.
Unique Quality: Beautiful park with pond, large pools and health facilities. A lovely place to take a stroll.
There is a free shuttle into town provided by the hotel but we were not that ambitious.

An Oasis !
This hotel is located near the old Don Muang Airport (now domestic) next to the main highway. It is a large area of land with a great swimming pool, great tennis courts, great restaurants, and nice rooms.
Tip: spend a little extra and get the deluxe room in the new building (executive). Its not that much more but the rooms are great. fantastic bathrooms.
The chinese restaurant here does a great Peking Duck too ! They also have a shuttle service to nearby shopping centres. About 35- 40 mins from new airport
Unique Quality: Great pool with pool bar. Gymnasium is well equiped. Tennis courts are tournament standard.

Great Hotel by the Airport; Luxury at Thai Prices!
We have stayed at Rama Gardens many time and have always enjoyed our stay. It is close to the airport, the weekend market, and close to the train station (Don Muang) if you are going north. This place is such a treat after roughing it and at a luxury level we could never afford in our residence country (Japan). Nice helpful staff (other than the front desk - can be a bit snippy). Ask to stay in the "Grand Courtyard" and on an upper floor. If you book it on-line (with AsiaRooms or something) you can get the best rooms for around $60-70 including breakfast and a ride to and from the airport. It is expensive comapred to basic level guesthouses but compared to the big name hotels - it is a great deal. I usually build in a day or two here to chill out at the end of a busy trip. Great for an overnight rest if you are flying into and out of Bangkok.
Unique Quality: Beautiful Pool(s), Tennis Courts, Great Breakfast Buffet, Stay in the "Grand Courtyard" section for hardwood floors, bay windows, marble baths with a view, cheap room service, shuttles to the airport and the weekend market and a few inconvenient places in Bangkok. A taxi ride into the center of Bangkok runs around 150 - 250 baht. (Just remember - turn that meter on!) Nice bell staff.

Between airport and city
I appreciate particulary this hotel, open in 1982 and with a new wing in 2004. It is in a large park. Room with rattan wood and lovely bathroom. Splendid lobby and nice pool in the garden. Only Airplane noise disturb you, but it will be better when new airport open next year.I have a good food in the restaurant with pool view.
Unique Quality: Large garden, nice pool.

Bath tub by the window
This is the bath tub, cool view by the window. However, the bathtub was a bit dusty. Maybe no people use it for long time (normally they serve business travellers, who are too busy to take a bath?). I need to clean it up before soaking myself into it.

Very Nice Hotel!! Near to Airport.
15 mins by taxi from airport, but far from city centre. I didn't expect this hotel to be so good, as the outlook was very old, and I wasn't sure how many stars they got.
I stayed in the new wing "The Grand Courtyard". The room was big and spacious, with bath tub next to the window. The pillow was very comfortable. :)
