Hotel I enjoyed staying

I think this is now called the Ramada D"MA Hotel, formerly just known as D"MA Pavilion Hotel. The rooms were good, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. I would stay here again.

Unique Quality: Though it is a bit far by foot to many sights, taking a cab to the destinations would not cost a lot of money.

Good hotel resonable price

This hotel already converted to Ramada D'MA Bangkok and has been renovated with international standard of facilities, amenties and services like other Ramada hotels. The guest room is spacious with very large bathroom separate shower room and bathtub. In-room safe and coffee & tea facilities are provided complimentary.

Unique Quality: Nice room and comfortable as well as the swimming pool on the 8th floor over looking to the city. Breakfast was great. Lobby was charming. Free WI-FI internet in public areas.

Executive treatment

bought this hotel through zuji for S$66 per night during the promotion. walking to pratumum will be walking along a small lane for about 5-7mins, cross over overbridge, and walk for another 2-3 mins.

No worries on food, as there are quite a few restaurant that offers quite nice food. Thai food are really nice.

Unique Quality: the rooms are quite big. good service. and there is a executive breakfast at level 36 or 26(cant remember). go for that.. no extra service cheap for that.

even the room service food are good.

A nightmare

I stayed at D' Ma Pavillion couple of years back and it wasnt a nice experienced for me, my officemates and our clients.

Althoug the reservation was made and paid ahead of time still when we arrived we were informed by the front desk manager that they can only give us 1 room instead of 4 rooms that we booked.

We insisted that we have to get our room coz we already paid for it. Well, there was nothing we can do so we accepted his offer to stay in a presidential suite room which has 2 adjacent rooms and a living room. Me and my officemate ended up sleeping in the sofa.

Location wise, it may be close to pratunam area but its inside the small streets which make it look a little unsafe for female travellers.

Their food is not really good plus the serice and ambience. Their carpet stinks plus the fact they allow smoking on certain floors.

D'Ma Pavilion Hotel

We booked a backpacker trip and the hotel was chosen from the tour operater. We expected a small and crappy backpacker hotel and were surprised to see a rahter nice looking hotel. The location is not that great as you have to walk for about 30 minutes in order to get anywhere. Yet, the tower with the revolving restaurant is in about 10 minutes walk.

Unique Quality: Well, staff was not that friendly and the breakfast buffet was kinda crappy..... but the rooms are great and you can get to the hotel in just 30 minutes from the airport.

Mid- Class Range Hotel

The hotel is pretty substantial... The reception gave us a topmost floor and on the elevator, they are short of one floor so we were wondering what floor we should go to. The attendant at the floor was friendly enough to show us where. The room was nice and clean.. but there is no view on the room they gave us. When you look outside teh window, Its just a blank wall. I would prefer a room with a nicer view of the Bangkok Skyline. The food at the Breakfast table is good but the choices are not a lot. Plus everyday, its the same menu. hotdogs, hams, egg, fresh fruits. The people at the hotel are friendly.. and its safe. The location is pretty good too because its near convenience stores, markets, etc.

Unique Quality: For the price we paid, Its a good service. Plus, the hotel has a cafe, has a pool and nice health club. IT is also clean...

Give it a miss until its upgraded

Lobby and restaraunt were very nice. Service was excellent. Rooms are in need of some attention. Carpets dirty and linen washed out and torn. Staff were very helpful in getting problems sorted out. This hotel, while only a block away from busy areas of Bangkok, is unknown to most of the taxi drivers we encountered and we had to show them maps. We were booked on a package and expected a 3 star - THis is not as good as other 3 star hotels we stayed in but was liveable.

Near Pratunam

It's the only bad hotel experience i have in Bangkok. First the towel where of really poor quality, The pool is really small and my children play with the safe and he put a toy inside and the safe cannot be open, the staff say we have to wait 24 hours before to open it and was not kindly. The room are not bad and the bathroom is with separate bath and shower.

Re: Bangkok

Lots of places are safe to stay at in Bangkok even in cheaper places than the Ramada. I was in the Sukhumvit Road area just a couple days ago and everything seemed to be pretty normal. Lots of malls on Sukhumvit Road plus the Skytrain is still working in that area starting from the Oh Nut Skytrain station. You can get many hotels without any reservation during low season. If you have already paid for this place I would send them emails and even call from the airport and ask the about current situation.

Back up hotels on Sukhumvit Road that you may want to consider if your hotel says not to come (unlikely if they have your credit card number) are:
Landmark Hotel
Amari Boulevard
Marriott
Sheraton
Ambassador.

Your Ramada Hotel may suggest alternative hotels for you too.

http://www.guidetothailand.com/maps-thailand/bangkok-upper-sukhumvit.php

In this area, from Asok Skytrain stop to just after the Nana Skytrain stop, you have hotels in all price ranges. A hotel that is 600 baht will still have air, hot water, private toilet, cable TV and maid service. Ibis Hotel is not too bad and you can walk to many places. All of the above Sukhumvit Road suggestions have street vendors, malls, restaurants, nightlife, travel agencies for tours and small shops you can walk to. You can use the Skytrain to take you to other areas to shop at like Lotus Tesco and places in between.

Keep in mind that the press does sensationalize these political protests quite a bit. Tourists are not the targets of any demonstrations. If a tourist is stupid enough to actually put himself right in the middle of these demonstrations on purpose then he may end up as "collateral damage" by chance.

If your original Ramada Hotel is providing transportation they will know the current status of your stay. There are lots and lots of malls and other sorts of shopping that are not affected by any demonstrations.

Thai Visa Forum has up to date info on protest situation in Bangkok:

Good luck.

Up to you.
