Close to Khaosan Road, away from noise

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in June 2011. I chose a standard single room on the fourth floor of building (block) C, NO ELEVATOR.
The room very simple, single large mattress, satellite TV, desk, hangers and safety box.
Bathroom have a showers but the water pressure is less.
There is a swimming pool on the roof of the hotel, it's free for all hotel guest.

Unique Quality: The hotel is close to mosque and muslim village that sell HALAL FOOD.
The hotel is close to tourist attractions.
The hotel is close to Khaosan Road but away from noise.

Well Located

I stayed here on 2 weekends as I was passing through BKK. I found the Guesthouse to be well located in the quiet Soi Ram Buttri street which even at night is quiet. Tucked away just off of the street it has many bedrooms and security in the reception. they do not encourage the more interesting "guests" and will charge you if you have a guest staying in a single room. The reception were not exactly friendly and really could have done with some smiling

My room in both visits had no view to speak of, but was comfotable with tv and A/c and ensuite

The towels were very worn and thin and that was my main complaint. the 2 swiiming pools were a bonus especially on my 2nd visit when the sun came out

Unique Quality: Great situation and quiet. Good to have 2 pools in such a busy City. Any guests are not allowed to use the pools although this did not affect me. Shame the roof pools were closed early evening though

Budget place near Khao San Rd

This a simple budget place close to Khao San Road. Rooms are basic but have aircon and TV. Bathrooms are better than average in that price category and have hot water.
It's not the cleanest place though and staff if a bit indifferent.
There's a swimmingpool aswell, but I didn't check it out.
Single Room is 400 THB/night.

Cheap but Good

You can get a basic room with double bed, shower with hot water (no stall, just hose), air/con, and tv for 12$. The only thing I didn't like was the noise in the hallway was really bad. But noise from room to room wasn't bad. I was in the B corridor, maybe A is better. Also there is an elevator to A corridor but not to B. So B is up 2 sets of stairs with the luggage, kind of a pain. 2006

Update. I stayed here again in 2010. Wwe paid 25$ for a double bed with a/c ensuite. We stayed for 8 nights. there was noise in the hallway but it wasn't too bad. We love the location. There is a great Indian restaurant next door and internet cafe too. There is a British restaurant in the courtyard too but we didn't care for the pies, very dry. I recommend this hotel.

There's a pool too.

Unique Quality: Next door there is a great Indian restaurant that also serves up European/American breakfast and 2 travel agencies also.
There is a 7-eleven around the corner with a yellow phone to use. Kaosan road is just 4 mins. walk away.

Rambuttri Village Inn

Located in Soi Rambuttri, a quiter road parallelling to Khao San Rd. Of course you won't get a room as beautiful as the pictures on their webpage. But the room is clean and quiet, much better than most guesthouses in this area.

Double room with bath, aircon and tv 650B

Close to the action on Koh San!

We stayed in the Rambuttri Inn for 2 nights in September 2005. The rooms were basic enough but clean - they had a double bed, private bathroom and satelite TV. Staff were friendly enough, if a little disinterested but as 650 bhat (12 euro) a night, what do you expect! They had a lovely pool on the roof which was really nice for cooling off. Location wise, it was a five minute walk from the Koa San Road, ideal if you want a bit of peace and quiet as well as the maddness! There was a couple of restaurants underneath the hotel, in particular an Indian one which served great food with really friendly service. Just down the road there was a bar which was part of the Sawasadee hostel group. The bar was really great, excellent chill out music and great drinks. Plus it NEVER closes! Not sure whether that's a good or bad thing but it was great at the time!

More about Rambuttri Village Inn & Plaza

My Guesthouse

by strollingfish about My Guesthouse

The second time I was in Khao San Rd., almost all houses were full, as well as Rambuttri Village Inn and a neighbor new guesthouse in Soi Rambuttri. I walked the road further and found this guesthouse. 200B for a double room with fan and share bath. For me it's just somewhere for a bed while some guests were enjoying lying on mattresses and watching movies in the big lounge.

Guesthouse in Banglampoo

by tina_vietnam about Green House

Average Guesthouse on a more calm street called Soi Rambuttri in Khao San Area. Clean and quiet. Unfortunately not outstanding atmosphere except from the travellers watching videos (as if there was nothing more exciting to do in Thailand than watching western movies ;-)) Video!!

Beautiful name, nice rooms

by AndreSTGT about Mango Lagoon Place

This is my new favorite place to stay in Banglamphu. Mango Lagoon is an upmarket guesthouse on Rambuttri in a quiet area behind the temple. The rooms are really comfy with a big bed, setee, carpet, air-con, TV, spotlessly clean and homey. A standard room costs 700 B which is very good value. It's the perfect place for people who want to stay close to where the action is, but still want a bit of quiet and comfort.

Another cheap guesthouse........

by hasthetravelbug about My House Guesthouse

I stayed at My House because for a few nights Peachy guest house was fully booked. This place has clean rooms, a lively restaurant in the entrance always playing recent ripped DVD's and a good place to meet other travelers. The location is good as it is just off Rambuttri which is just like a toned down Khao San.
The facilities were adequate but I didn't like how I was on the 5th floor!
Other than that My house is a nice and clean guesthouse that provides internet (over priced), a travel agency, and a good food.

Prices: Single 150 baht, double 300 - 500 Baht
(when I was there in low season, they offered free breakfast) Nothing really unique about it, but very popular with backpackers because of its location and restaurant.

budget accommadation

by sezabell about the merry v guesthouse

if your like me and just want a bed to lay your head for a while in bangkok why not try the merry v, not to be confused with the new merry v just around the corner.
they have basic rooms either fan or air con and also have rooms now with private bathrooms
the cheaper rooms have shared separate showers and toilets on each floor
cleaning ladys go up and down the floors all day and clean the showers and toilets the merry v is just around the bend from khao san rd on rambuttri so abit quiter than being right in the middle of all the action. the temple is right across from it and there are really good street food vendors about 10 meters from the door.
the cheaper rooms start from 200 baht a night, has gone up 20 baht in the last 4 years of us being there.
