Walk!
Make sure that you spend some time just walking around the streets in Bangkok...even though it's hot and humid it's still nice to see the streets by foot... We saw so much more when we wandered the streets, it was well worth it...

The wats by the river; definitely take a river-boat ride - a great way of commuting with the breeze providing welcome respite from the heat.
Experience the sky-train network, and also the modern air-conditioned subway.
Visit the Grand Palace with the Emerald Buddha, also visit the huge Reclining Buddha in another wat.
Head to Vertigo Bar for great views of Bangkok from above in the evening.
Visit Chutchak market on the weekend, and Lumpini Night Market - perhaps squeezing in a show of Muay-Thai.
If you happen to be in bkk around Nov 21, it is the Loi Krathong festival. It is celebrated along the river. Check at the Tourism Authority of Thailand website for details.
Depends on what you wish to do in Bangkok...if you come just for sightseeing..then go for temples..bangkok is very famous of its temples and shows.. see the cabaret show! thats fantastic :)
few temples that u should visit: Wat arun (temple of the dawn), Wat traimit (the largest golden Buddha), Wat Pho (reclining Buddha)
you can go to Grand Palace too.. great architecture..

The Chinatown area of Bangkok is a fascinating place to wander around. Old traditions have been kept alive and I enjoyed going into Chinese medicine shops to watch traditional medicines being prepared.
This is the pier in front of the River City where you alight from the Ayutthaya cruise. It is also where we catch our ride on the shuttle boat back to the Marriott Hotel...it takes about 1/2 hour...and if we are following the current...it takes about 25 minutes. This is a very pleasant ride.
Along highways and even on tiny country roads, signboard advertisements for Jatukham amulets such as this one are becoming an ubiquitous feature of Thailand scenery. Jatukham amulets are becoming a staple of Thai life with economic and political uncertainties and one can see many of these large cookie sized images hanging on the necks of many Thais nowadays.
In the morning of 7th October 2002 the water begann to flooding over the Pier and Klong in Bangkok. In this afternoon 250 high-ranking Monk came to Phra Ubosoth in Wat Phra Kaew and start to pray over 2 hours.
