 | Sawasdee Banglumpoo Inn: Maybe OK, but not for Claustrophobes

by June.b From Chiang Mai I traveled by train to BKK and headed directly to Khaosan Road. I booked Sawasdee Banglampoo Inn the night before, standard room for 2, 2 nights. The room was so small even for our luggages, so no room to move, so I requested to move to Superior Room. It didn't help to ease my clautrophobia attack, still small almost the same size as the Standard only with a window facing the other building and the alleyways below and a bigger and better bathroom. It's like squeezing all good amenities in a small cubicle -- ridiculous TV with only 4 channels all in Thai, 2 in actual, as they're just repetition of both, can't find the ESPN, Star Sport, HBO, BBC that's being mentioned on their website, so it's turned off the whole night, fridge with expensive drinks and nuts. small corner for our luggages. On the positive side, the blue-tiled bathroom is okey, separate shower stall, clean towels, good toiletries. Plus it's smack-bang right in Khaosan. And the reception staff are courteus and friendly too. But can't stay for another night so we checked out on the following day. Breakfast was... small set of eggs, 2 strips of bacon, toasts and coffee. At 680baht for Standard, add 100baht for Superior, you could find bigger and better options around Khaosan Road, we did. Not bad though if you just want to stay along Khaosan Road and the small space won't bother you.
