Staying in famous Kao San Road area

Recommend this.

It's in the famous tourist hub, Kao San Road area, in the area called Banglampu. Easy to find, not directly on Kao San Road so a little less hectic.

It's on Soi Ram bu tri (or Rambutri, as sometimes written) . It's parallel to Kao San Road and close to Phra Ahrtit Road, which runs along the Chao Praya River.

Positive:

Mostly friendly staff
Internet cafe, though not open 24 hours/day.
Good prices. Cheapest room is 180 baht, about $5 USD, for small single bed with fan. Can get doubles and a.c.
Clean
Good bathrooms-spacious, separate private showers with a toilet and sink and mirror in shared bathroom each floor. Places to hang your clothes and bags and counter space.
Laundry service available
Bag/luggage storage, cheap, I trusted it

Negatives:

Can get noisy from downstairs restaurant bar, but with earplugs and fan not bad
Family of roosters across the street-get room that's not overlooking the street
Ended up in a room with a.c. b/c they ran out of single rooms one night, and the a.c. didn't work, no fan. It's ok to sleep but any movement is sweaty hot
Internet not open all the time and more $ than cafes around
Have to give deposit for key and towel
Like any place in the area, it's possible to have bad luck and have crazy, partying drunk obnoxious guests that can be loud and rude-comes with Bangkok's night life and the touristy area

Unique Quality: Cool bar/restaurant, nice decor, good ambiance
Good staff
Good bathrooms

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average
