a reasonable hotel near the airport

by seanelizabeth

I am looking for a quick, clean, budget (affordable) hotel near the airport to sleep while I wait for a flight to Katmandu. Any tips? Thank you.

Hello! I recommend “Siam Piman Hotel” for your cozy stopover. It is a small boutique hotel on Ramkhamhaeng Rd. in Bangkok with nature green ambience. Most importantly, it takes only 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi International Airport by the public taxi meter and the hotel rate is quite reasonable. Lets check out for other information you need and I hope these details may help you plan your trip as well.

I can recommend Queens Garden Resort. 10 Minutes from Airport, I think it was 1000 Baht per night. Large rooms, good bed, air condition, tv, balcony.Bathroom a bit basic but very clean. In front of the hotel is a small beer garden. Have a look at the website: queensgardenresort.net
I have stayed there last summer and it was perfectly ok.

Greetings from Vienna,

Travel Tips for Bangkok

by Asiar

Bangkok is a busy city and crowded same as others big city in the world. There is the centre for everything. You can easy to find Mc Donald or Pizza Hut in Bkk so ? It is the thing that u wanna meet here ? The best place to eat that where the local eat! The resturant that planty of tourist ..i think expensive and you can't eat real thai food (and thai taste). Bangkok is the city that east meet west ... although we wanna keep our life sytle but we can't stop to growing up..Whatever, I always choose Fried rice instead Mcdonald :) Traffic Jam? Nooo.. ;-)

Ramakien mural paintings

by DM_PDX

These beautiful mural paintings are on the gallery surrounding the temple of the emerald buddha. They are very beautiful and fascinating, each telling a different story. The murals cover the full walls from floor to ceiling so this is just one small portion of the wall.

Respect the money

by mickwat

I was severely reprimanded by police for running after a 1000baht note which was blowing away in the breeze and attempting to stop it with the sole of my foot. What was ironic was that I knew this would cause offence but was more concerned about the loss of cash. The Kings head is on the note and the foot isd the dirtiest part of the human body. So treat banknotes in Thailand with respect

Almost human statues

by SirRichard

These golden statues of old monks that you can find in some Bangkok Temples have always amazed me. The first time I saw one I had to look very very close to find out if it was a HUMAN BEING painted in gold!! They are soooo realistic, in shape, size, details...
People use to cover them with little gold sheets that they buy as offerings, so they look kind of "patch-work" in gold!

Muay Thai

by roamer61

This is the national sport of Thailand. In Bangkok, matches are held in either of 2 arenas. Best to check times and matches as you really would want to see only the top fighters. Muay Thai is a combination of boxing and kick-boxing. Its fast and furious and there are generally 3-5 rounds of 2 minutes each. Fighters use their fists, elbows, knees and feet to pummel their opponents. Winner usually is by knockout. None. Simply the body as explained. One can match pro matches are even study in one of many institutes that specialize in the training of this sport.
