Meet the locals
I would recommend this hotel for sure. We had the suite which was 58$. It was on the ground floor. We had a sliding door that opened to the sidewalk. We had two bathrooms. It was really big. Two times a week there is a night market outside the hotel and it's awesome! Lots of food. But daily there is a market just 5 mins. walk away with tons of cheap food too. There are two restaurants next to the hotel and a couple across the street, all open air and Thai. There are street vendors with food too. It's only 1 dollar to eat street food (2010) and you can get a cold beer at the Tesco or the Thai type 7/11 and drink that at the food stall. Cheap! Only English spoken will be at the hotel and the hotels restaurant. There is a Wat just over the bridge to explore. Other than that it's just locals doing there thing. Just down the road is alot of activity though. We didn't go down there. We were content with what we had there and also it was so hot you could hardly move.
The rooms in the hotel were half the price of what we paid for our suite.
Unique Quality: The staff is great! Very nice. Especially Arthur who works at the restaurant. The location is a 10 min. drive from the airport. We did not go into Bangkok for the 3 days we stayed there due to the political civil unrest at the time. They have a free shuttle to the airport and from there you head back into BKK.
Remember this is a poor area with no luxuries except the hotel and a couple convenience stores. It's where the locals live and work. No harrassment from sales people or anything like that. Just a tiny bit at the local market. But the only westerners are from that one hotel and most of them are just overnighters. It's cool!
