Value for money - pretty much close to everything
Rooms are big and clean. Pool area has a nice view overlooking skyline. Complimentary toiletries are one of the best being L'occitane. I never go wrong with Sofitel. It's right on the spot with easy access to major shopping areas.
Staffs are helpful and always at your service ready to help. Will definitely come back

Sofitel Silom or Novotel Siam Square
anyday - Sofitel Silom.
Under the Accor Brand - Sofitel is the higher brand hotel.
Worried about traffic? - BTS. Surasak station a mere 10 mins walk from Sofitel.
I rather sleep in a nice hotel than sit in the traffic for just over a couple of mins / hrs...
you get the picture :-)
Unique Quality: centrally located. contemporary rooms, good service. nice wine bar atop the building...

Wonderful Hotel in the Heart of Bangkok
My wife and I were in the Sofitel Silom Bangkok in February 2008. We absolutely loved this place for its perfect location in the heart of Bangkok (as far as this does exist) and the great overall atmosphere. The staff is very polite, our room (we had a suite) was fantastic and we do have some great pictures from the 22nd floor of the city.
Always important for my wife and myself is the fact that there is no streetnoise whatsoever, and hardly any noise from neighbours (lef/right/upstairs). We are not good sleepers, so this was very pleasant.
Unique Quality: Since this is a very business oriented hotel the facilities are not really impressive, the pool (which is on the 5th floor, on a small terras) is about 3 by 6 meters (or even smaller).
The beds in this hotel are incredible, the matrasses are simply fantastic!
The breakfast was very good with a huge variety and fresh fruitjuice, and we enjoyed it daily with a lovely view over Silom Road.

Sofitel Silom - superior business hotel in Silom
The Sofitel Silom is located near the heart of the Silom entertainment district. Just a short walk from Chong Nongsi station, the Sofitel is a superior class business hotel. The rooms are fitted with the latest amenities required of a business or leisure visitor but showing signs of ageing. The fitness center is small and so is the pool.
Unique Quality: Overall, the Sofitel Silom is well located for the business traveller who wants a good hotel near the Bangkok CBD. For the tourist, it is near the night spots of Patpong and the nightlife clubs and bars.

Fab overnight stay.
We stayed at this hotel mainly because it was the closest to the airport as we had an early morning flight to catch. The overall quality and standard of the hotel is excellent, typical of most Asian hotels.
To me you cannot beat them, wherever you stay. The lobby was attractive and spacious with fabulous Thai staff assisting any needs or questions.
We were greeted warmly and our check in was fast and efficient. Our room 1831 was modern, comfortable and spacious with lovely views of the city. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spotless with lovely toiletries and fluffy towels.
Arriving late and requested room service for drinks; it was also efficient, fast and came with a cheerful Thai smile.
The Chinese restaurant downstairs from the lobby we found to be excellent which had a live jazz band playing. The service and food was again first-rate.
We have stayed at numerous hotels in Bangkok and it is hard to rate one over another, as we have found them all be to excellent. My favourite is the Marriott Spa Resort.
Overall, this hotel did not disappoint and we enjoyed our short stay here and would return again if we were looking for a hotel close to the airport.
The sky train is minutes away which link you to all the major attractions and shops in the city.

Not that great
In general, Sofitel is one of the better Accor hotel chains, hmhhm... somehow that's not quite true for Sofitel Silom. While being quite far away from public transportation (and since Silom Rd is always very busy, taking a cab is not such a good alternative), rooms being quite dated and the rest of the facilities in rather average condition, the rates went up to 100 EUR recently - without any improvements.
Anyway, it's just a 10 mins stroll to Patpong, but after spending one evening there incl. a visit to the surprisingly good techno club "Lucifer", I didn't feel like going there again.

Some French luxury
Sofitel Silom offers a piece of French luxury in the middle of busy streets of Silom district in Bangkok. The location is excellent for business, but it is quite decent for tourists, too. There are a couple of skytrain stations nearby and taxis are plentiful.
When booking, remember to ask a room on the upper floors. We got promoted to executive rooms -- maybe due a toddler on board -- and both the room and the amenitities were excellent par none. The breakfast was sumptuous and massaged all right tastebuds. Do I need to mention the quality of service as the hotel is located in Thailand? Anyhow, it was genuinely friendly and very fast -- as you may had already guessed.

Room with a view!
I booked a Deluxe room in one of my trips there, and when I arrived at the hotel, the receptionist told me the Deluxe rooms were full and promptly upgraded me to a Superior Room! Cool beans!
The room I stayed in was on the 30th storey, and the view, oh my god, stretches across the skyline of Bangkok. Beautiful! Breakfast was on the 33rd floor. And I must say the breakfast was quite nice.
Unique Quality: Small pool, great view, and very well equipped gym.

Great Hotel
Marvellous hotel near Patpong market, in Silom square. Huge room with panoramics views over the city from the 22 th floor. The breakfast on weekend days its served in the 38 th floor. The view its heartbreaking. And the welcome coctel its "caprice de Dieux". Very very kind people. Nice place. Luxury decadent french style. Very good price.

First step of a great honeymoon
From Paris, we got to Bangkok at 6am.
We arrived at the Sofitel at 6.30am and our room (15th floor) was ready.
The view is amazing, the bed is the best I've ever slept in.
We had a thai massage at the spa after a 30 min jacuzzi session. Really great experience.
Staff is always smiling (Thailand for sure) and really helpfull without being too present.
We left the hotel really happy...
Unique Quality: The fitness is ok, the swimming pool a little bit too small.
The spa is fantastic.
The restaurant and the wine bar (both on top of the building) are great.

Is this a good hotel compared to the price? Any other good hotels in the same price class? (3000-4000Bath)
Re: Sofitel Silom
There is nice hotel with nice location and 3000 bahts is not so bad rate. The spa there is cool :>
Re: Sofitel Silom
We have stayed a lot at this hotel the breakfast is the best , the hotel itself is great for the price, lovely rooms, we generally stay in 5 star hotels we were impressed, just down the road from Patpong markets at night
Re: Sofitel Silom
Sofitel is the Dogs B****ks iff you know what I mean.
I do alot of training programs and international clients always stay there and like the place. Decor is gret, rooms are airy and cool.
Near the centre of things - close to the river, close to the Pat Pong watch the bizarre world happen area, and the transport is good.
Make friends with as many of the staff as you can. Just show an interest in learning a bit of Thai with them and they will help you no end. Promise.
I'd say just go for it. Rooms are good enough, ad if you are a VTer you'll be out and about alot anyway.
Hope you have a great trip,
Ian
