Seven-eleven everywhere
You can see 7-11 everywhere, I think that's why sendom local people take the water in the street.
We see two chain store, one is in the photo, the other is called Family Mart, in bangkok, 7-11 is more than Family Mart.

You dont have to book through online, its just for idea about price, facilities and location of your preference
Try the Sheraton Orchid right on the river. They often discount the rooms on the internet around 75 USD. Rooms are large and clean, pool is overlooking the river. Cheers Tommy x
We stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheration and it was very nice. I have pics and tips posted on my Bangkok page of the hotel. The Sheraton also provides their own boat to take you to the nearest metro station and the boat taxis are right there as well. Very convenient. Bring your own hair dryer, the hair dryers in these hotels aren't great. I made sure to bring a dryer 1600 watts or less because the converter won't handle converting any appliance more than that.
We stayed at the Navalai River resort and it was FANTASTIC!
The boat pier runs right to their restaraunt and from there it's an easy on and off to the major sites as well as to the end where you can then catch the transport to the mbk, etc.
Additionally, it is only a couple of blocks walk to Khao San road for dining and shopping.
There is also an attached 7-11 store where you can purchase cheap water, cigarettes, etc.
We cannot say enough about this hotel. Great service and wonderful location.
Better rates through www.asiarooms.com
Hope this helps,
Homer

The good time to visit Bangkok or Thailand is during November-April because its a dry season. But then again there are people visiting Thailand all year round. Even though its not an ideal period to come here during the rainy season, I personally think it is still all right. You should consider May and October since the former month is just the beginning of the rainy season and the latter is the ending month of it. Plus, the hotels are not yet double priced.
Anyway, for the dry season, specially April, its the HOTTEST month and Im telling you its burning! Probably, a very ideal time to come visit Bangkok is from November till February. December and January are supposed to be the coolest months here. I mean the coolest for Thailand, which can be considered ' warm' for Europeans.
For the rainy season, when it rains, it RAINS. However, it usually lasts for an hour or two. And there is always a sunshine after that. Never takes a whole day.
As long as you are at the beach during a full moon, you can body surf almost anywhere. Full moon makes for higher tides and surf. Pattaya's Jomtien beach would probably be the closest to Bangkok or Koh Samet. If you are not there during a full moon then it's going to be pretty calm.
HAve fun!
Assorted Thai Dessert available on all King Power Duty Free Shops, However I Bought This at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Quite Expensive at 400 Baht (12 USD) but is very satisfying as you can savor a sampling of assorted thai desserts. I bought other thai snacks and dessert there that cost me 3000 Baht in all and i will post them here however some are not taken from my camera since i have thrown some of the boxes already.
Remember to bring an extra luggage so u can buy more things. But then again...why bring when u can buy a "non-branded" one there! Cool clothes for shopping and shopping! Bring some charcoal pills if ur stomach can't take the streetside food/hot stuff! no beach....dun bother!
