Strategically situated on sukhumvit road and at the price of 480bht for a single bed, it is really a good place to stay especially with all the facilities provided. Check out their website and you will know what I mean.
suk11 is like an oasis in the middle of the urban jungle of bangkok. they really try to create a nice and unique environment for their guests. it's a four storey building with gardens out front and on the rooftop. the interior is rustic and homey - there's a guitar by one end of the reception area, a CD player, books scattered around, a fridge, microwave and interesting knick knacks lining the walls and hanging from the ceiling. on the fourth floor, you walk a dimly lit corridor, with floor scattered with woode planks and pebbles. on each floor, there's also a common area where peeps can just sit and read or hang out. on the 2nd floor, there's a movie room with a comfy set of couches and dvd player. also on the same floor are two computers that are like slot machines - you have to put in coins in order to get it going. there's even an altar with antique or antique like buddhist images. the area is quiet, the location is close to restaurants and the skytrain. i would not hesitate to come back to suk11.
Unique Quality: interior decor and friendly staff as well as guests make this hostel a home. oh and they serve really good breakfast. don't miss it!
only thing with this place - bring a backpack. rollie bags make it hard for your to climb the small, steep stairs.
Directions: skytrain station nana
Set in a traditional Thai house, Suk 11 (say: Suk sibet to avoid confusion with the locals!) is an oasis away from Bangkok's hustle and bustle. The air-conditioned rooms; doubles, or twin beds, three beds and dormitories, are clean and roomy. The common areas are awesome; great to hide away in a corner to read a book or watch a movie, but it does get a bit stuffy when the weather is warm and humid. Bathrooms are cleaned periodically, but sometimes there is a lack of toilet paper (a problem I often encounter in Bangkok!). A simple breakfast is included in the price. What you get is toast with a choice of spreads and tropical fruits. Staff are super friendly and provides invaluable travel inquiries. This hostel is perfect for the budget conscious traveler who don't want to step into a 'Khoa San Road' vibe and sleepless nights.
Unique Quality: It's like you're hidden away from the general craziness of Bangkok. Most nights you can hear sax or vocal tones from Zanzibar, a cool bar/restaurant located just around the corner.
Directions: Behind 7 Eleven!
Suk 11 is a very interesting place to stay. It was made to look like a Thai village but it is right off of Sukhumvit! The hostel looks like it is built on stilts and when you walk through the hallways you must walk across wood floor boards that were put down.
The staff tried to be as helpful as possible with any questions we had. One of the staff came along with us to enjoy the Songkran festivities on Khao San!
Breakfast is included but it is definitely slim pickings...
Unique Quality: The most interesting thing about Suk 11 is that you feel like you are staying in a small Thai Village when in fact you are right in the city!
We stayed in a private room with bathroom ensuite. It was well worth the $23US per night. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked fine. The bathroom was clean but definitely nothing to brag about...
Directions: Sukhumvit Soi 11, across the street from the Ambassador Hotel.
I only stayed one night, so I decided to take their dorm room for 250 baht. There are singles and doubles however. I booked the room online, which was pretty straightforward. They replied with a confirmation by email quite quickly and had no problems when I changed my mind from a single to a dorm room. I paid the 250 baht when I got there, got my key, a free bottle of water, was shown to my room, and had my bed made up by a kind staff person. The downstairs lobby is pretty small and was busy during the evening and the morning with its free breakfast of fruit and bread. Otherwise my night in the dorm was dominated by the air conditioner for both its sound and its blast of cold. Good thing you get blankets. It was a short stay, but overall I was satisfied with what I got. Considering the other cheap hotels I've tried in the Sukhumvit area, this place is good value.
Unique Quality: I didn't have much time to explore the place, but there was a TV lounge on the 2nd or 3rd floor as well as a coin-operated internet station. There were share toilets and showers outside the dorm room on the 3rd floor, though I didn't have to wait to use them at all. There was a restaurant outside, but I'm not sure if they're connected to the hostel. A light breakfast was included in the downstairs lobby, which was a good surprise. It's basically the best budget option in the area, as far as I know.
Directions: A bit hidden, but coming from Sukhumvit keep walking down Soi 11 and look for a small sign saying Suk 11 on your left.
Great location and stay in Bangkok for less. That sums up my experience of staying at Suk 11.
Don't be fool by the not so attractive "photos" in the website. The place far exceeds my expectation. Love the stay at Suk 11. The guesthouse is uniquely designed and decorated in old traditional thai house. The room is basic but clean and spacious. Staffs are helpful.
Unique Quality: Great location at the heart of Bangkok with only 5 mins walk to nearest sky train and surrounded with restaurants and hawkers food. There is a mini mart outside of the guesthouse.
Directions: Sukhumvit area
If i was traveller and visit Bangkok, this place would be top of my hostel list to stay. It's very interesting hostel with very good design. You will feel like you live in a small community of Thai life when you walk into this building. Price is real reasonable and feel safe to get in and out.
Unique Quality: You got to go and see. You will say 'yes, this place I like'
Directions: Behind 7-11 and opposite the Ambassador hotel
I never stayed there (well, I live in Bangkok) but I walked pass this hotel often and it looks very lovely. It's wooden Thai house, Not so big but looks very very nice. And room rates are not so high. So I'm posting it here in case you might be useful. And staying at expensive chain-hotels is not that fun.
Unique Quality: This place got a character. Location is right in middle of Bangkok (which could be bad and good, it depends on your style) if you're person who prefers peaceful quiet place to stay, don't pick this one. But if you're looking for a place near BTS. This one is very close to Nana station.
Directions: 1/33 Sukhumvit 11, Sukhumvit rd, Bangkok 10110
Off at Nana BTS station. Walk down into Sukhumvit 11. Hotel will be on your left. It's Thai wooden house, You can't miss it. It's so well-visible
I don't really want to tell you about this place as it's such a great find I don't want it to get too full up! But it is a fab place to stay, friendly staff, spotless rooms and double bedrooms with ensuite - fantastic.
They book their rooms online, which is quick easy and efficient.
Breakfast is included in the rate.
The travel agency located at the far end of the hostel (near Cheap Charlies) sorted out our visas for Vietnam and Myanmar for us, quickly and efficiently.
The style of the property is really nice.
It's not in the Khao San Road (which I'm not a big fan of.)
Unique Quality: Free bottle of water and a 'jasmine garland' when you check in.
Internet acces is available here.
Dinner (If you pre-order).
Close to Cheap Charlies (See nightlife tips!)
Close to the Skytrain.

Hmm, great breakfast.
A warm place to stay in BKK.
Unique Quality: Great ambience , good decor.

Turn in from the corner of 7-11 (opp Ambassador Hotel).
This hostel is quite cozy and clean.
The atmosphere is a little bit different from other usuall hostels.
Because it decorates its interior as if it was a Thai village house.
We could eat breakfast without extra money.
The staff is friendly and enjoys chatting with their guests :-)
It seemed easy to make new friends there.
Directions: Sukhumvit area.
You can see a good map on their webpage.
We booked a Family Suite at Suk 11, it cost us 1200baht (4 person) a night which is considered cheap. Its a Cozy hostel which make you forget that you are actually in a busy street in Bangkok. The toilets are clean with hot showers, clean bedsheets, cold air condition. So basically, Im glad to stay in this hostel.
Just outside the Hostel, its a food haven if you dare to try street food. The vendors look clean to me selling Yummy Sweetcorn, BBQ food and in the afternoon, there is a Van parked outside the Hostel...selling noodles soup!. GOTTA TRY THE NOODLE SOUP, you will love it...even my friends who is not used to eating street food LOVE IT.. RATING FOR THIS NOODLE SOUP VAN is 10/10.
At night, if you cant sleep, you can sit and hang around the street near Hostel. Night Street vendor selling Steamboat Tom Yum which cost around 150baht.. wont said that it taste very nice but for the atmosphere of just chiling out...its Great!!
Overall, I love this hostel...because of the Location and surroundings..
Unique Quality: Tell taxis driver---Nana Station Soi 11
Oh ya...there seem to be a wireless network in this hostel...So if you are a net savy person, you can bring your laptop along with you :) If not, just across the hostel, there is a internet cafe which offer cheap net rates.
This spot is filled with interesting travelers from around the world. They have WiFi, and all rooms have AC. Rooms with private bathrooms are also available. Located on Sukhumvit soi 11. Very close to the BTS.
Unique Quality: WiFi for you laptop available downstairs lounge.
around 500baht for a single w/ bathroom.
Suk 11 is a family run hostel in the heart of Bangkok. I was charmed by the wooden entrance, decorated in such a typical thai beach house feel.
There are dorm rooms as well as single/double rooms. Rooms are not too small, clean and air-conditionned. As it is in a small lane, we are separated from the busy streets of Bangkok.
A single room was 500 baths in September '04, which is around 12 USD/night with breakfast.
Unique Quality: The corridors are simply great. It is made to give the impression that we are walking on a wooden bridge over a river. It is dimly lit with lanterns here and there....
Its central location is a great +. We were just 10 min walk from Nana Skytrain.
Directions: Just behind the 7-11, right across from the Ambassador Hotel.
This area in the east of BKK is a very convinient zone to look for medium-cheap accomodation. Not as famous as Khao San Road, is obviously less crowded and not so noisy. here you can find medium size-class hotels (Atlanta...), as well as cheap classy pensions (Suk 11) and good restaurants (Cabbages and Condoms). There are many internet cafes, and souvenir shops too.
It is very well communicated by BTS (Nana Station) and the Airport bus A3 leaves you right here in less than 30 minutes!!!
