Sukhumvit Area

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 21, 2003

This area in the east of BKK is a very convinient zone to look for medium-cheap accomodation. Not as famous as Khao San Road, is obviously less crowded and not so noisy. here you can find medium size-class hotels (Atlanta...), as well as cheap classy pensions (Suk 11) and good restaurants (Cabbages and Condoms). There are many internet cafes, and souvenir shops too.

It is very well communicated by BTS (Nana Station) and the Airport bus A3 leaves you right here in less than 30 minutes!!!

Best 'resort' in Bangkok

It's a home away from home! It's like a 'kampong' house in the city, with a fountain in the front porch, a little gallery for you to relax, a library, and a garden on the roof!

Unique Quality: Rooms are clean with air-cond and attached bathroom. Walking distance from Nana Station.

Directions: Next to 7-Eleven

A home far from home

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on September 11, 2003

Unique Quality: Cool accomodation which give me traditional klong look-alike inside the building. And the place nearby 7-Eleven plus a BTS (skytrain) station make me easier to go anywhere around Bangkok.
* For details in my travelogues :)

Directions: Stop at Nana station, walk to direction Sukhumvit 11 and the location just behind 7-Eleven

Suk11

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

This wooden thai style hostel is one of the best values in town. Cheap and clean, all the interior is decorated in wood. And is located in a rather nice and lively area, Sukhumvit, with plenty of restaurants and cafes.
To get from the airport, take the A3 airport bus (100B) and get down at Soi 11 in Sukhumvit Road. Walk to the SevenEleven and you will see a wooden house with a grren garden.
I paid 500B for a single ensuite with A/C.

Decent Old building

by written on May 26, 2003

On this last trip I only stayed in Bangkok for 1 night and I wanted to be fairly near the the Myanmar Embassy and the sky train so I stayed at Suk 11. It was a very nice place but for my liking it was quite expensive compared to the places on Khao San Road. But for the plus side it had character as it was in a traditional looking wooden building and the rooms were't concrete boxes! The part that I stayed in was under construction.
Single Room 450 bt
Room with 2 single beds 550 bt
Dormitory 250 bt
Ensuite 5 beds family room 1200 bt
There are other options available too!

Unique Quality: It's on a very quiet street and the people that run it are very friendly and helpful.

a 5 star hostel

by written on August 26, 2002

I found my little quiet and extremely friendly home away from home in Sukhumvit, at a backpacker's hostel called Suk11. Prices start from 250 bhat including breakfast.

Unique Quality: It's set in an old traditional wooden thai house with many cosy common areas with traditional furniture: plus the owners are real darlings

Directions: skytrain: Nana. It's behind a 7/11 shop and opposite the Ambassador hotel

Greetings everyone. I have just booked some time at the Suk 11 hostel and I read somewhere that you have to bring your own locks for a private room. Can someone please verify this and recommend an appropriate type of lock. Also if you can think of anything that you would have done differently at this location. Thanks in advance
Carlos
