Better Value Elsewhere

Booked a suite and was very disappointed. The room was of adequate size but was tired and dark and did not provide an atmosphere where you would want to spend much time. The bathroom was average and the hot water did not work in the shower.
The restaurant was good and offered a good breakfast.
The location of the hotel is excellent but I have found better hotels in the same area which are more comfortable and offer better value.

Recommend the Swiss Lodge

We stayed at the Swiss Lodge for four nights, from the 31st March. We had booked a double room via Asia Web Direct at a rate of 2,350 THB per night including American breakfast (approx $62US or £34 ) based on recommendations from Virtual Tourist and similar sites.

We were not disappointed. The room was spacious and well appointed and the king size bed very comfortable. Friendly staff gave first class service and the buffet breakfast offered a good choice of well presented food. The hotel is very close to Sala Daeng Skytrain station and there are several reasonable restaurants close by. Silom night market is near and well worth a visit, don’t be put off by the negative reputation of Patpong.

This was our first visit to Bangkok and through the hotel we booked a limo to meet us at the airport. At 1,000 THB this was not cheap (you can take a limo from the desk at the airport for 600 THB plus 60 THB toll charges) but arriving jetlagged and weary it was definitely money well spent, as the driver needed no instruction, and took us straight to the hotel.

Later in our holiday we returned to Bangkok and took a limo from the desk in the airport to the nearby Silom Serene. Fortunately I knew the location of this hotel, as the driver (who spoke no English) did not and I had to direct him there with hand signals.

Although previous reviews of the Swiss Lodge had been pretty much universally positive, we had one concern. We could find no photographs of the pool. As we were meeting relatives with children, the pool was quite important to our party. We need not have worried. The pool is not large but it is more than adequate as you can see from the attached photograph and we had great fun there!

I would not hesitate to recommend the Swiss Lodge and if it is fully booked, would also recommend the nearby Silom Serene.

More about Swiss Lodge

Nice boutique hotel in Silom

by Indotraveler about The Swiss Lodge Bangkok

The Swiss Lodge is located on Convent road close to Silom, just 1 minute's walk from the throughfase and 2 more minutes to Sala Daen skytrain. Great location. Nice hotel, definitely same as you would expect, or better, from a chain hotel like Holiday inn. Good service, nice but not very large rooms. Have stayed here 6-8 times in the past couple of years; the only complaint I have are recurring reservation hassles: the hotel responds to booking requests slowly on the internet; sometimes does not respond at all; and most recently decided that I had reserved just one night when I had actually reserved two nights. This is relevant as the hotel is nowadays quite popular and can be quite fully booked at surprising regularity. All aspects of customer service are not fully grasped, eg if they overbook a room category, they try to have people switch rooms during their stays (a big hassle), rather than upgrade a new arrival to a higher grade room, which is what good hotels would normally do. Rates are reasonable for the quality, in a chain hotel you would pay $50 more than here. The internet rates are well explained and to be recommended. --and overall, a recommended hotel for both personall and busines stays (but note they have a self service mini business center, nothing like a 5 star hotel like Hyatt or Pan Pacific). Just make sure your get a firm booking! Great location, value for money in comparison to standard chain hotels like holiday inns and their like

Re: Swiss Lodge Hotel

Well i worked there as receptionist long time ago. Swiss Lodge Hotel is 4 stars hotel situated on the centre of Bangkok, silom Road. it's a very convenient place to go everywhere, only 5 minutes walking to skytrain staion. The room & service pretty good but swimming pool is so small. also the strange thing is walk in guest can ask for much discount there. but for this season advance booking is needed also.
