Cheap Bangkok Accomodation

A nice Guest House in a good location, good value for money, fairly basic but clean. Fridge in room, along with TV and air con. Showers have hot and cold water. Lockable draw and cupboard in wardrobe, not convinced how secure they actually were though but Lockable Safes in Reception. Staff friendly. It's an ideal location as it's far enough from the crowds of Khao San Road to get a good nights kip yet close enough to visit the action when you want. Close to The Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha (Wat Prakaew) which are within walking distance (around 10 mins) and near to Chao Phaya River. Wouldn't particulary advise paying more for a window or balcony, I had room with window, pointless as nothing spectacular to view out of it. Window rooms might be more spacious though?

Unique Quality: Close to Khao San Road, only a couple of minutes walk away. Beauty Salon on top floor, very reasonable prices.

Decent Enough-clean rooms nice staff good location

Clean room - decent furnishings - soft sheets nice enough bed.

Windowless room - sounds no issue but trust me stay more than one night and its not so great.

Fridge goes off when you leave the room - durrr what that all about came back to find ice mealted and beer warm !!!

Although road is busy-ish the hostel rooms are pretty quiet although same can NOT be said of the other guests nosiy TVs - loud voices and slamming doors all night long.

Unique Quality: Very close to Khao San Road.

Nice friendly staff. Breakfast included. You can by drinks and food either to eat in the cafe area or take to your room.

On site internet 10 baht 20 minutes. Tailors decent enough guys. Spa - not so great (Plans is better and less than 5 minutes away - details will be posted in tips) Travel & Tours company nice people will do there best for you.

Thai Cozy House

I really liked the atmosphere of the guesthouse. The staff is very friendly, although their English is not exceptional, so you may want to walk the 2 blocks to Khao San Road if you have questions about the area. The rooms are clean and bright, particularly the rooms with windows. Also, a complementary breakfast is included with all bookings.

Unique Quality: There is a nice balcony on the 5th floor, and you can also walk up to the roof for a good view.

Vegetarian restaurant near Khaosan

by beebah about May Kaidee

Well, I'm not vegetarian myself but my friend is. May Kaidee is one of his favorite vegetarian restaurant in Bangkok. And price is pretty cheap compared to food she serves. Even I'm meat-eater I still enjoyed her food. Everydish goes for 30-35 Baht. Restaurant located on the ground floor of small hotel ("Thai Cozy House") - Spring Rolls (30 Baht)
- Masaman Curry (35 Baht)
- Ginger Fried Tofu (35 Baht)

If you want smth less expensive, just go to Khao San Road... (you can take a taxi from the airport, all the drivers know where it is), and pick one.. there are many... Most of them are clean and nice staff, you can then pick between more/less luxury.

It depends where in Bangkok you want stay, and what your price range is, but for cheaper guesthouses, try www.khaosanroad.com. I stayed in 3 different guesthouses around Khao San Road. I think I put 2 of them up on my Bangkok page so far.

The most "western" place I stayed was New World Lodge. My favorite, as far as atmosphere and overall was Thai Cozy House. One place with a pool on the roof was D&D Inn.

If you have any further questions about any of these places, feel free to ask.
