Up one level is the main lobby which was impressively done up in dark marble and the use of muted coloured lights to create a stunning visual impact (see pics-taken using a film camera and scanned so the quality is not great.).
The reception staff were very polished and professional and a few of them can speak different languages including Japanese.
It has a reasonably sized pool (see pics).
Cool and elegant bedroom, with the Heavenly Bed (copyright) that all Westins are famous for. The bathroom was large and well appointed.
This property used to be under a different name and management but was refurbished and upgraded in 2003 and rebranded as the Westin Grande. The location was excellent, within walking distance of Asok skytrain station, and also within walking distance of Nana Plaza and its surrounds and street level shopping. Just across the soi is a 7-11 convenience store for your daily needs.
Update-Aug 2005:
We stayed at this hotel a few years ago just immediately after the rebranding and got a good rate. However, at that time, the fitness centre was not ready. I have recently checked it out and it is far more expensive now (over US$100 per room night), which is a bit out of my budget. It is only one stytrain stop away from the new and upmarket Emporium Mall (the Food court at the Emporium is quite remarkable and I've written up on it at my Restaurant Tips section).
