Is the Asumption Church a Catholic Church ?

If not , where is the nearest Catholic Church near Montien Hotel.

Assumption is about 2 kilometers, west. Holy Redeemer is about 3 kilometers, northeast.

Silom Road - Sunday's...

Silom Road is the longest and one of the oldest stretches of roads in Bangkok proper. Every Sunday's - this road is shut.. *yes*.. I mean SHUT off from vehicles to be a huge road bazaar. Its quite an eclectic mix - from skateboarders, bazzars, ethnic jewellery from upper north Thailand... if you are spending a weekend .. goto this open air bazzaar...its worth the skytrain fare.. The food naturally, but otherwise the ppl. I have not gone to any other Asian country and met a group of ppl as friendly as the Thai's.

Chakraphong Mosque

Chakraphong Mosque is situated at Chakraphong Road but is very secluded & not so easy to find. A map would be very handy in finding the mosque (Pls. See Inserted Map) but you can find it if you ask the locals or the taxi drivers around. We stumbled upon this old mosque on our way looking for 'Halal' food. You have to walk right in down the 'soi' & you'll find it. We revisited the mosque recently in May 09 and noticed the mosque's surroundings looks clean and well maintained now. So, If you're interested to mingle with some local Muslims around this area, maybe you should pay a visit to this mosque! So Many Thing!

Recommend Raja Tailors. Go to Sukhumvit rd and soi 4 near Nana Plaza. Raja can take you to his wife's shop accross the srteet, Sukhumvit where she can make you a dress or other women's garments of any style. Make sure you have enough time set aside for fittings.

It is a common and expected practise to remove ones shoes when entering the Temples(Vats). Thais are a non-confrontational people and do not like to argue or talk in loud voices. They respond to smiling faces and courteous and mild demeanor. Songran is a celebration of the Thai new year. It is marked by the splashing of water and a white talcum powder-paste on each other and tourist alike.

Wet tissues are a Must!

Wet tissues are a good bet in this hot and humid city. The pollution is rather bad due to the amount of traffic and the vehicles' emission. Just imagine the smoke and dust settling on your sweaty skin... You can also wear a face mask on the streets.
