To get to this hotel take the sky train to Asok Station. Walk to Sukhumvit Soi 20 and then go right. It's only around 5-10 minutes walk from the station.
The hotel has two buildings, we were in the taller of the two towers. Our room was clean and comfortable with a separate living room, big bedroom, big bathroom. We live in Hong Kong and are used to small, the whole place was around the same size as our flat if not slightly bigger.
We had a TV in the living room and in the bedroom. There was a fridge/minibar, a room safe, tea/coffee making facilities. Shampoo, shower gel, body lotion were provided in the bathroom.
The hotel had a nice-looking gym which we did not use and a lovely swimming pool which we used all the time. The pool was a reasonable size and was an irregular shape with bits to swim round, Some bits were a bit shallow. There was also a jacuzzi and a kids pool. There was a bar/restaurant by the pool.
Breakfast had lots of western options, Japanese options and vegetarian options. Although it was quite extensive, I found the food a little bland at least until I found the chilli sauce.I was surprised at the lack of Thai food except vegetarian.
There was a Chinese restaurant in the hotel which we did not try.
Directly across from the hotel was a German restaurant called Bei Otto. We had a good meal there. We also had a good meal in a Thai restaurant a bit further up the road - green something, maybe green garden.
The Bei Otto restaurant also had a delicattesance where we bought lovely bread and wine and snacks.
There was a Family Mart and a 7-eleven nearby.
The Asok area has lots of bars and restaurants. Lots of girlie bars, too, which may put some families off, though they are far enough from the hotel to be avoided. The hotel was quiet at night and we slept very well. The bed was lovely and comfy.
We did not do much sightseeing this time, but you can get around easily by sky train and use the skytrain to go to the river at Saphan Taksin and take a boat to the royal palace, Wat Po etc.
We were very happy in this hotel and will certainly stay here again.
Unique Quality: Good for transport by skytrain, lots of restaurants nearby.
Took a cab from the Airport at about 3pm and the journey was smooth all the way to the hotel except the exit from the highway, which had a little jam.
Checking in was smooth and before we know it, we are on our way up to our room. Need to use the card key to access the lift buttons to go to our level.n The reception pass a piece of paper containing the wifi username and password for use of wifi in our room.
Our room was an upgrade from the Deluxe (complimentary) via online booking. The room has 2 TV sets and a sofa in a separate area. Wifi strength was good nearer to the room door and is poor at the bed area. Only 1 logon at a time is allowed.
I do miss the morning newspapers that most hotel does provide.
Breakfast at the Cafe with a wide spread of International Breakfast.
Adjacent to the hotel is an Italian Pasta Restaurant and across the road facing the hotel a German Restaurant and other food outlets. A road side food stalls lined the street between the hotel and the main road. There plenty of food and drinks outlet as such.
A 7-Eleven store is the at the junction of the main road and the road leading to the hotel. Not far is yet another 7-Eleven store. 7-Elevel stores operates 24 hours a day and is a convenience store.
Walk to the nearest Asok skytrain station takes about 10 minutes from the hotel. On the way, there is always a tuk-tuk waiting to pick up un-suspecting guests, taxis and the other 7-Eleven store.
In the morning, there a make-shift stall selling freshly squeezed orange juice which is going at a fixed price of THB10 for a small bottle and THB20 for a larger bottle.
We asked for late check-out by an hour and that was no problem. During the check-out process, after the front desk radioed the room number, we were on our way.
Stay there for a we in 2006.
The room size was ok but located close to the elevator and I had some noise all night !!!
The breakfast was nothing special.
The swimming pool was disappointing !!!
The staff quite average
Unique Quality: Location is not too bad
Very impressed..................good check-in, Lovely atrium, cocktail bar is very expensive. Rooms (all suited) are spacious, clean and well appointed although maybe a little tired and in need of a refurb. The pool on the 14th floor is excellant - fantastic views - but the poolside bar is not cheap! Breakfast was good, lotsof choice and plentiful.
Unique Quality: Great location - just off Sukhumvit near Soi Cowboy and Emporium and within easy walking of both BTS Skytrain and the Underground at Asoke. The Rembrandt, which is also good, though a bit more expensive, is just next door.
Directions: Soi 20 Sukhumvit, very near to Soi Cowboy
Good spacious accomodation in the Counsellor with separate lounge area, marble bathroom, comfortable beds. Service was excellent and the breakfast buffet very good value. The swimming pool on the fourteenth floor is quite large, freeform and the pool area is planted to resemble a jungle.......clever. Warning - drinks in the Atrium cocktail bar and the pool bar are pretty dear, even if they are beautifully presented.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Windsor, its location, within easy walking distance of Asoke BTS station and Emporium (very upmarket shopping mall) also Soi Cowboy had plenty of good restaurants nearby (checkout Nancy Chandlers Bangkok maps [Google search] you'll see what I mean)
I can recommend the Windsor Suites to any one.
Unique Quality: Sukhumvit Road location
I stayed at the a Counsellor Suite at the Windsor Suites Hotel in 2004. The hotel is the former Embassy Suites Hotel and has been refurbished. Each room is a suite and has a separate living room area. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Asoke BTS station.
Unique Quality: I like the sumptous buffet breakfast spread at the Windsor Cafe - a good start to the day's activities.
Directions: 10-minutes walk from Asoke BTS station.
Good location on soi 20 Sukhumvit, you have an other entrance in soi 18. Only suite from 40sqm on this hotel ,
small entrance with seat area and tv,the bathroom and then the room. The service was good and the breakfast really good. It's a large hotel and the lobby is really nice. Even we book 2 rooms you can sleep in four in one suite room, the seat area can be transformed in a double bed.
Unique Quality: Really nice and large pool, only suite rooms, grat view on the skyline of Sukhumvit, soi cwboy is not far.
Directions: In the middle of Sukhumvit
The Windsor Hotel is on Thanon Sukhumvit, near the Asok Skytrain station. There are two wings. I actually stayed in the Garden Wing, which is next door to the building in this picture.
The room I had was huge and very comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, but the laundry bill was expensive.
Unique Quality: The swimming pool was where I retreated to each afternoon. It's on the 14th floor of the main hotel building. It's lovely - nice and big with plenty of swimming and wallowing places!
When the temperature got into the low forties, there was really no point in trying to go anywhere else in the city!
The average price when booked online was 40.00 dollars US as compared to 75.00 US if book at the hotel. I have added a picture looking out of my 30 floor window facing north east.
Unique Quality: The price for this 3 star hotel was reasonable and worth it for the suite that was provided.
