Handy for the Skytrain
I booked this hotel for a last night in Thailand before heading to the new airport and home, and it did the job pretty well. It's close to Nana Skytrain station and together with an early start meant that I was able to have an early morning trip around the city before checking out. Free tea and coffee in the room and BBC World on the TV kept me happy, and although the hotel is on a busy road I didn't have a problem with the traffic keeping me awake. Breakfast was included but the cooked food was a bit disappointing. A good deal (at 28 pounds per night) overall, though - I'd consider staying there again if the price was similar.
Unique Quality: The entrance is very strange - if you enter from the pavement you won't see reception, just a security guard - you will find reception up a floor. Not a big problem as once you've checked in you get a swipe card to get into your room which you keep with you, and don't have to stop at reception every time you go in and out.

It's a good hotel in an interesting place
Length of Stay: 4 days
Pros:
* Clean, standard business hotel with diverse clientelle.
* Great breakfast.
* Fantastic views from both the room and the pool on the roof.
* The location is close to the BTS Nana station, is close to the Egyptian Quater, the hip hi-so bars of Soi 11 are walking distance away.
Cons:
* The location: if you are sensitive to the whole go-go bar scene, you might consider a different location.
Unique Quality: The pool has the to be best part of the hotel. It's on the roof - and please keep in mind that the hotel is very tall. Even if you don't want to swim, I recommend going to the top just for the view - they have a nice obersation deck.

Nice hotel - but a walk to the transport
Good value for money in good sized clean rooms. I got a corner room so I views down to Sukhumvit from one window and a view of Bumrungrad hospital from the other :-)
Arrived here very early (7:30 am) but had no trouble checking in although the taxi drop-off point is odd as it is down in the underground car park. Roof top swimming pool has good views but is a bit small - but it does have a separate jacuzzi pool. Breakfast was also good - but my girlfriend complained about the lack of variety in the Thai food.
Main downside to the hotel is that it is quite a way up Soi 3 so it will take about 15-20 minutes to walk to Nana BTS station. However there is an interesting cut thru via "Little Arabia" .

Zenith Sukhumvit Review and General Bangkok Tips
Bonjour Bonjour. My partner and myself are off to Bangkok this Friday (lovely jubbly) and are staying at the Zenith Sukhumvit off Sukhimvit Road, any reviews?
Also, I'm thinking of hiring a car for a day on the outskirts of Bangkok in order to have day trip somewhere, any ideas where we could go for a decent day trip? Any other top tips and must sees (we are going to Koh Samet for 5 days also)
Any advice gratefully received!

I would have suggested Kanchanaburi and the Tiger Temple, or Ayuthaya, if you are happy to travel an hour or more from BKK. Other place is Ko Kret island, which is in the Chao Phraya nearn Nonthanburi - a lovely quiet little oasis in the big city, with culture all of its own.

I stayed at the Zenith last year and in general it was a very nice hotel. Here is the contents of my tip about the hotel :

Zenith hotel is in Little Arabia. Mostly mideast and african travellers. I have stayed here but I prefer a hotel on the opposite side of sukhumvit road. The hotel is nice but over priced for this area. To get to most entertainment areas you will have to cross the very busy road.

Nook, thanks for your advice, much appreciated. We were considering the floating markets and temples, so good to get some advice on the best ones. Busy packing at the moment and quite excited as first time to Bangkok.
Again thanks
Drew

Many Thanks for you advice, I am currently researching your suggestions (we fly out tomorrow). Nonthanburi sounds very interesting and well worth a visit.....again thanks....

Many thanks for your run down on the Zenith....sounds like its O.K.
After your comment on little Arabia I feel that it is well worth taking the short cut! Cheers , Drew
