Reservations Needed?

by tcris52

We're planning a trip to Cha-am/Hua-Hin in the last two weeks of December. We'll have two adults and two children. Do you think we'll need to book hotels in advance?

Thanks.

Yes, that is peak season for tourists. In addition, many Bangkok residents escpae to these resorts at New Year.

Of course I have no idea how recent political events will have impacted on tourism.

Why wouldn't you want to book in advance, at least for the first couple of nights?

At New Year's, Cha-am especially is packed with Bangkokians on vacation. It's advised to book for sure. Hua Hin, not so - they rely mostly on foreign tourists. Should be no problem, even at New year, to get a room there.

Since we have not been there before, we were hoping to go there then decide where to stay.

We'll be there from 22-26 December so we'll miss the New Year week madness.

Thanks for the answers.

You should be able to find something during that time without booking. From the 26-31 would be a different story.

As a follow-up to this, can anybody suggest a place to stay in the mid-range? Let's say less than 1200 B (or so) per night.

Thanks.

Bike ride - My favorite activity at Cha Am

by Wann

It's sometimes too crowded for me to get to swimming in the sea so I instead enjoy the atmosphere on long beach road. Apart from taking a walk, enjoy the food, I get a rental bike, ride it along to the end northern and southern part. There are so many shops set up by day along the foot path, provide rental bike and motorbike. (Average is 20B / hour for bike and 120B / hour for motorbike) Very popular activity…. Many kinds of bike…
