In Cha Am we stayed at the Nirundorn Resort which is over the road from the beach. We paid 1000baht a night for their Deluxe beach front room with balcony and free wifi. This room was great for watching all the activities on the street and beach.
The hotel is very popular with Thai's and they have a very interesting booking system, the reception desk is out on the footpath, so you just pull up alongside in your car and they show you a poster with photos of the various rooms. If you like them you then drive into their car park, pickup the keys and off you go. No passport, names etc.
Our room was very modern with a lot of opening windows, big flat screen televisions and a nice bathroom. We really liked it here but have to say the room was extremely noisy, you could hear every bike or car that went past.
Anyway we ended up staying for 4 nights as we enjoyed Cha Am so much. There is also a 24 hour 7/11 next door and atm's.

Several international golf courses close to Cha Am including Lakeview and Springfield. Also many gold courses nearby in the Hua Hin area. Book at any hotel reception desk. Some of the Golf Courses also have hotel style resort accommodation Clubs and all other equipment can be hired for a reasonable price. If you are bringing your own clubs call your airline to check on their policy, some airlines carry sport equipment at special discout baggage rates.
Cha Am view point is in the middle between North and South Cha Am.
It is a good place to see a view of north and south beach. Also a good place for relax, look beyond the sea and enjoy sunrise and sunset.
In the afternoon I saw locals go there for excercise...
