Inexpensive beach hotel in Hua hin, the Blue Wave Hotel, or Bluewave, is right on the beach at Khao Takiab Bay, rooms with balconies offer great views of the beach and behind on the mountins where the sun sets.
Ideal for those looking for inexpensive hotel, the Bluewave though is a high rise hotel, large number of rooms.

Inexpensive Hua Hin hotel, good views from the balconies, right on the beach.

    Seaview Guesthouse: Guesthouse
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We stayed at a guesthouse called Seaview.
I found it on the internet and chose it because of the good location, a few steps from the beach, and the offer of a car and driver to pick us up at our hotel in Bangkok.
It was very clean and spacious.
We had a large sitting room with TV, large bedroom, small balcony, and a tiny bathroom with shower.

This was our first visit to Thailand so we were not familiar with their bathrooms. We opened the door to this closet size room which we thought was the bathroom.
We saw the toilet and a tiny sink but couln't find the shower. We searched the apartment.
Finally returning to the toilet, we saw a thing on the wall that we figured out was a small electric heater, there was a hose attached. Bingo.... welcome to the Thai shower.

Anantara Resort Spa Hua Hin: Brilliant Hotel   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Stayed Anantara at Hua Hin 17 to 31 October 2005.

This is a lovely 4*+ resort hotel set in well kept gardens. The service was better than most 4* hotels I've stayed in around the world. The staff were friendly, attentive and treated guests like real guests. This was particularly true of 3 out of the 4 restaurants I ate in. A similar standard can be applied to the bars. One really is made welcome.

The standard of food was excellent, well cooked and plenty of it with an extensive menu mostly Thai but also with other western dishes. Good wine list. The Thai wine was surprisingly good. The Italian restaurant is undoubtedly the best with its understated class.

The main pool area is large freeform and most attractive. Squeaky clean, but the water was cold particularly after rain. Separate childrens and and adult areas. Good swim up bar. Lots of free towels.

Rooms: I can only speak for my room (balcony not terrace). Large, clean with good daily maid service. Well laid out with teak floor and good fixtures and fittings. Very effective aircon.

Small beach with romantic view out to sea at sunset. The sea is very shallow, still only waist high 50 yards out.

It is, from my experience difficult to find fault with this hotel and I will certainly return.

This is a hotel/spa with quality and highly recommended to fellow travellers. One point worth mentioning - there are lots of steps between the various levels so anyone with walking difficulties might have problem.

    Outstanding characteristics:

    Food - as above
    Pool - as described
Service and staff - as described

Attention to detail - this is always a sign of quality. Such detail was apparent in the restaurants and also my room. Example; fresh lotus petals placed on the bed and in the bathroom every day and the meticulous way in which small things like soap and toiletries were arranged to milimetric precision - every day.

Same standard in the restaurants where it was quite clear the staff had had excellent training and knew their stuff. Nothing was too much trouble. A nice touch in the first class Italian restaurant - a fresh leaf printed in gold with your name placed on the table prior to arrival (when booking a table for the evening in advance.)

This time I went to hua hin with friend on long weekend and didn't make any booked for accommodation. When we got there, first thing we just walking around and look for cheap place to stay. Everywhere was full, well almost full as we found this hotel still one room was available but got to wait till the previous guest check out. We sat at the hotel lobby that was a bit dark even day time. Good location, cheap and safe that we were looking for and seem this hotel nearly suit our need. We got rather small room and old, bad smell, not clean, no balcony, no view, well it's fine anyway since we had no choice. We just need a place for some hours sleep. The good thing is its short walk to anywhere, night market, walk to fish pier or even beach. A night walking street, pubs, bars, restaurants all are around the corner, it seems in the area of night entertainment. I spent about 600-800 Baht/ night. (cant exactly remember) I prefer more peaceful place so I don't think I will stay there again. And one thing I learn, I must make a hotel booked in advance when come to Hua Hin on a long weekend or any Thai public holidays.

    Central Village: By the Sea
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's right beside the Sofitel. The accomodations has it's individual bungalow by the sea. And it's pretty decorated with thai style. They have a garden view and a sea view villa.

Very convenient to where you want to go. It's beside the beach and few minutes walk to the city proper.

Fulay Guesthouse: Hua Hin Budget Accomodation
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • I stay 2 night at this guest house. The first night because I and my buddy wanted to save money, we opt for the Fan room which cost us around 400baht. But during my first night, I cant sleep, I think it is because its hot and im sweating...And I think the private showers is cold in FAN Room!!

Haha...Ya...being a girl, i would expect a cool place to sleep and hot shower :P ... So, i changed to the Aircon Room + Hot Shower during my second night which cost us around 800baht. We did check out another guesthouse which is directly opposite FULAY.. seem to have a ok room at a cheaper rate. But we still stay in Fulay because we prefer room to have 2 single beds and Fulay has a nicer environment :P

Basically, Fulay is a nice guesthouse... Bedsheets are clean, Aircondition is powerful and there is hot shower but one thing to note breakfast is not included. And we can hear the sea waves at night :))

Beside the guesthouse, there is a motorcycle rental service. The food served in Fulay is OK. It is within short walking distance to the night market.

Its face the sea. My travel buddy wake up very early to catch the sunrise pictures. The "jetty" behind Fulay is a nice place for reading or just chating with buddy :)))

I will be back to Fulay if i go back Hua Hin again :D

Hilton Hua Hin: High rise resort smack dab in the middle of things   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:

  • As with large hotels in Thailand, excellent and gracious check-in and check-out routines. Well maintained facilities, each room has a balcony with most affording view of Gulf of Thailand.

Centrally located in town offering easy access to just about everything. Hua Hin Brewing Co / Pub / Disco part of the hotel and is a lively (and loud) gathering spot for locals and farangs. Bars around the hotel close at midnight whereas the pub closes at 2 am. Hence, people form the bars move to the pub where they continue their partying. Fortunately, the pub is isolated enough and noise from the pub does not reach any part of the hotel.

    Excellent suites with huge balconies.

Free Form pool with swim-up bar. Fast water slide and good toddler's pool. Nice mix of sun and shade. Pool staff not as attentive to guests as the Hyatt's - I'd give them a C+.

Restaurant has very expansive menu, offering Thai, Italian and Japanese dishes. Food comes out fairly quickly despite the vastness of choices. Teppanyaki bar excellent at keeping children amused at dinner.

Milestones lounge with live music nightly except Tuesdays. Billed as a jazz lounge but music is pop and not jazz.
Good concierge desk with knowledgable staff to help with booking outisde activities. The concierge desk is referred to as the Siam Adventure Club.

Movie theatre with comfy couches offering free movies 3 times daily. 9 am and 2 am shows are typically family oriented (Disney, etc.); 9 pm show a bit more "grown up" but no R-rated movies.

Adequate play room for children. Although activities are not as organized as at the Hyatt, crafts and activites for kids are free

Better than average work out facilities.

Excellent spa! Poolside massage services are a good value compared to other large resorts.

I entered in the lobby and it's very spacious and fully decorated in thai which makes the hotel more pretty. A luxurious hotel when it's in high season specially..

The oldest hotel around the town. The swimming pool is huge that you can swim there your whole stay..lol

City Beach Resort: Good Location to Stay   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:

  • The City Beach Hotel is in good location to stay. It is located on the street lead to hua hin public beach (around 100 m. or so walk to beach) and also walk to hua hin market/ town, at night I walk 5-10 min to the night market, 15 min or less walk to railway and at back of the hotel is night walking street. Most interests, town, restaurants, mini-mart within short walking distance, also pub in under ground flr. The post office right opposite and nearby the CAT office where I can use cheap rate internet.

Nice room, great view of the sea/town from balcony.
