Hi,
There is now a shopping mall opposite the Marriott which houses a tesco lotus and several other clothes, shoes, gift shops etc.
There is also a shopping mall in Cha am about 30 mins from Hua Hin selling also designer goods or a very good night market and weekend market in both Hua Hin and Cha Am.

If your looking for bars then family open air bars are located near the Hilton with plenty of other bars within the side streets please try the Nervana bar opposite Crawfords irish bar, the staff are friendly with "No" bar girls if thats what you require (couples, families & singles all welcome).

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

Shrimp Farms

by kyoub

On the roads around the National Park, farther south, there are many shrimp farms.
Where there isn't a hut, there's a shrimp pond. The coastal region of southern thailand was once a green, verdant plain of rice paddies. Now, brown shrimp ponds stretch are everywhere.. The clatter of water pumps fills the air day and night, and the farmers have more money than they ever had before.

Bike and motorbike

by 1W1V

Bicycle and motorbike are readily available for rent at very decent price. If you have a hotel a bit out of town, it may be a good idea to rent it as soon as you get off the bus or the train.
Price vary between 50 to 100 Bath for a bike and 200 to 300 for a motorbike

Local bar experience

by nomadig about Mai Tai

Mai Tai is a bit more locally oriented watering hole next to Hua Hin Hilton on the tourist district. The price levels are quite the same as in surrounding pubs, but the atmosphere is different. However, don't expect to have any "authentic" Thai experience, but more like of a bit shabby bar, television shouting Thai soap opera or sports, and surprisingly inattentive service.

The beer is cold, and they serve some more complex drinks, such as local variant of Irish coffee. The price level is just right, so you could booze the whole night and still have a lot of money left.

Read why you should come to Hua Hin first

"Hua Hin is far from worried"

“Hua Hin” the near beach from Bangkok where it takes only 3 hours by car. It’s beautiful enough for the King who made decision to choose this place to build his resort palace here. “Krai Kung Won Palace” is where our Majesty the King lives here. “Krai Kung Won” is good words because it means far from the worried. It’s not only for the King but when Thai local who live there is near him, we’re also far from the worried too. As a tourist and visitor is also can be sure that it’s very safe beach to stay because you’re close to very high security for the King at Krai Kung Won Palace.

"Close to Bangkok"

“Hua Hin” is small simple town where you can find fresh seafood, nice and clean beach, beautiful accommodation, convenience to get around, and several ways to get there such as train, car or even private helicopter.

"Romance beach"

“Hua Hin” is one of very romantic places where it’s always mentioned in ‘love story’ novel, Thai movie and film. In a movie that I remember, when the actress is sad and run away from home, the actor always come to find her standing alone, watching the sea and end up with love for the story.

One day, I run away from my boss and went to cry at Hua Hin beach. By the sunset time when I was looking at the sea and sun, I saw a little dark shadow behind me. I thought it could be my boss come to find me like Thai love happy ending movie but when I turn around to find my boss. It’s not a boss but ‘horse’ instead. Well, I forget to tell you. One thing that you come here is you will find many horse by the beach. And It’s like a symbol of Hua Hin now.

No where else in this country that you’ll find the horse on the beach like here “Hua Hin” and No where else in this country that you’ll find my boss and me on the beach too. Hahahahaha….
