Hi, we booked Evason as well, will be there next week, so if you want, I can tell you after our holidays, we will be back on the 2nd of march. When do you go?

First things first ! The Evason is on the coast in Pranburi which is about 30 minutes south of Hua Hin. It is a quiet area, although there are a few local restaurants that have opened. Just outside the Evason facing the sea head right/south, you will see the nice Thai restaurant, food is very good and cheap, drinks are cheap too. You will also find local drivers that have cars and vans to take you to/from Hua Hin, although the Evason does have it's own shuttle service.
The area is relatively quiet, for shopping and a large choice of restaurants wou would need to head into Hua Hin itself. You can always get taxis back late at night but thinki in the B 300-500 range depending on negotiation.
South of the Evason you can head into the Sam Roi Yot national Park. Same area is Dolphon Bay which has a few resorts and other accommodation. Dolphin Bay resort can arrange boat trips around Monkey island and if you are 'very lucky' you might be able to spot the Pink Dolphins, I do not know the time of year that they appear but at least you can take a boat trip and have lunch in the areas.
if you plan to take a trip around the Sam Roi Yot National Park try and get another couple or so as the driver will charge by the vehicle, might be a little extra for others but in all will be far cheaper, try the same if going into town at night.
For other sightseeing look under general Hua Hin sigtseeing trips. There are day trips to the River Kwai and also south to Bang Saphan and Koh Talu island for snorkeling.
Hope that helps. Just remember it's Pranburi and not in Hua Hin itself.

This hotel was so lovely. There are 4 good restaurants on the resort, thai beach restaurant and cheap great massage right next to the surf. U can go to Hua HIn town by car 20-30 minutes.

Travel Tips for Hua Hin
Dragons
by yen_2
Ther were stairs that going to this dragons. But you have to leave your shoes to save a bit for cleaning in the area and of course a form of respect.
The clouds in this pic below the dragon is a step off area, too. So, be careful and be attentive if you want to take pics around.
Train to Hua Hin
by Mahieu
It is quiet easy to get to Hua Hin. We went by train from Ratchanaburi. I think it took us about 1hour and a half. We traveled in 3rd class and expected the worst, but it is quiet comfortable. On the train, there are lots of vendors selling food or drinks. Plus, it is a nice way to observe Thai people.
Nice food - dodgy practices!
by marty1972uk about Maharajah Indian Restraunt
Nice food, nice decor, grreat staff - infact we went there twice since it was so good the fisrt time. Unfortunately we ate a little later in the evening and as we were finishing at on of the tables a member of staff had collected all of that night's condiment dishes off the tables ( you know - the mango chutney, yoghurt and mint, and spiced onions..) and was happilly scoping them all back into big tubs to be used again! Now I'd be naive to think this doesnt go on everywhere in the world, but its not often you see it done on such a scale infront of you. If your not bothered by that sort of thing - the food really is good, but it did put us off a bit, I'm afraid!
Hua Hin Weather Forecast
by sarahreynold
Online weather forecast for the Hua Hin area. The climate of hua hin is very good, during the months of July, August and september when it can be raining in many beach area, the Gulf of Thailand area ( which includes Hua Hin, Cha Am, Pranburi, Koh tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui, Pattaya, Jomtien etc ) has quite good weather. Hua hin has about the direst / least amount of rain of any beach area in Thailand in July, August and September.
Suan Son Pradipat Beach
by yen_2
Just 8 kms away in the South of town, you can view pine tree gardens beside the beach. The beach though is not the same in Khao Takiab but it's wider and very clean. The beach itself is run by Army Welfare Office with pretty gardens and a beach open to the public. You can find cheaper bungalows and small hotels that makes the place more comfy. the beach can get too crowded yet it's peaceful and shady place to stay around...
You can find many foods in the entrance. they have small shops for farangs, too.
