When you want to take your time, bring your favorite book and go to the Chinese temple at the end of a street off the Naresdamri Rd, at the back of Lookghai guest house. You'll enjoy 270 degree panoramic ocean view from there! It is a small place and there are some benches under the tree. It is nice!
Fancy a duck
by johnaalex about Jasmine's
I had not been to Hua Hin for about 10 years, but decided to pay a visit there to see how it had changed as I was considering spending time on my next trip to Thailand. The number of hotels has increased and it is definitely a lot busier than my first visit. There has also been a notable increase in the number of places to eat. Many of them looked busy which to me is a sign of quality. I felt a little spoilt for choice and after looking at about 6 options I decided on Jasmines, mainly because it was a quiet “soi”, tucked away behind a busier road.
The service was prompt and I was soon sipping a very Singha beer considering the wide range of options on the menu. I had already decided to eat Thai (other cuisines are available) and after a while I went for chicken satay and roast duck in red curry.
The satay was very nice, nothing special but there was good portion.
The roast duck curry was truly marvellous. I asked for the food to be spicy and I was not disappointed there, but it was not just hot, it had that real Thai curry flavour. The best bit of all was the duck, a very good portion of lean and tender duck breast, so often with Thai food the amount, and sometimes quality, of the meat can be low – this is not the case at Jasmines.
My experience may have been a one off but judging my the number of regulars I saw eating at Jasmines I doubt it. The roast duck curry - great quality and flavour.
Snake show
by M.E.R.V
The snake show like anywhere else in Thailand was very impressive. What makes this one a bit more special is that only one guy in the entire town does it, with his wife and a handy helper. Very friendly lad and he made me carry three snakes that day. One with me holding on to the a python's head!!! Blurghhh!!! God knows what came in my mind I actually did that. Bh200 a person for a one hour show with lotsa phototaking of course!
And in case your wondering, there is no more monkey show available as the wife told me her monkey bit a boy to death and she was ordered to pay a fine and stop the show! Boo Hoo!
Night Market
by Mahieu
I didn't like the nightmarket very much. It is way too touristic and especially the surrounding streets are taken by mass tourism. But of course, it stays a good place to try some Thai food, buy very cheap shirts or just have a drink and watch life go by.
