How to get from Hua Hin to Koh Samet....?

by CSchmidtS

Hi

I am going to Thailand and will be traveling around a bit. I will need to go from Hua Hin to Koh samet (island). Is there anyone who knows if I can catch a boat or you will have to go by train all the way through Bangkok to Pattaya and take a boat from there?

I really need help :)

Thank you :)

This question was just posted a couple weeks ago. From what I remember, no one knew of a boat. Having said that, we're talking Thailand and with enough money you can get almost anything done. It would seem that this would be the simplest way but I don't know of anyone that does it. If that can not be done then yes, you would have to go back to Bnagkok and then on to Pattaya. I am unaware of any other way.
Good luck!

You need to bus to bangkok, change bus stations and then bus to Rayong area for the boat to koh Samet. I very much doubt you would find any boat to take you, if so would be extreamly expensive way to do it.
If you are not on a tight budget get a car+driver ( aka taxi car ) in Hua Hin, it should take about 6 hours including some rest stops, that cuts through south part of bangkok and then onto the fast highway towards pattaya but by-passes pattaya to the pier near to take the ferry boat to Samet.

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

Khao Takiab Beach

by yen_2

Whiter beach and you can find quiteness! I like this area in Hua Hin and when we get back, wouldn't mind staying here..

HuaHin has a miles stretch of semi white beaches that you can do all sort of water playing! Hubby was trying to do some surfing...

Many beach front hotels have concessions for wind surfing and sailing needs and power boats can be hired. Just asked your hotel staff about it.

Your local grocery store

by nomadig about FamilyMart

Buying all food and drinks from hotel pool bar or restaurants is easy and conveniently, but unfortunately quite expensive -- especially on longer trips. Hua Hin is fortunately packed with small grocery stores, Mediterranean style supermarkets.

The FamilyMart chain has several outlets in the Hua Hin tourist area, one being very conveniently located just outside Hilton Hua Hin. The selection is extensive, including a wide variety of drinks (including, but not limited to alcohol), snacks of all kinds, ice creams, dairy products and so forth. The prices are okay, a bit depending on the product. The happy logo itself is a good reason to select FamilyMart instead of 7-Eleven.

If you want chicken..

by riproy about The Chicken Restaurant

A woody open restaurant in a quite(r) area away from the crowds. Thais love this place - all the meat there is chicken and chicken is in all the dishes (well not all). No Pork. No seafood. Just great GREAT chicken done in so many different dishes and different ways.
It is only open midday til about 2 pm i think. Hmm, i'd have to say The Chicken!

Traquility around the city beach shouldn't be missed. It can get too crowded though but when you're around the weekdays and it's not in high seasons, you will find yourself alone...Take some pictures of this stones along the side of the beach as it's what the city name come from!

The photo was taken outside the Hilton Hotel. It was very crowded as it's during the long weekend of New Year!

Monkies

by yen_2

Go directly from the left of the hill when you feel like you can't do the steep stair case in going to the trmple. From the entrance of the monastery, you will notice many monkies huggling around and if you will buy bananas for them, be aware! They will get you..;-) After a few minutes, you will arrive in the monastery by the bay! Very pretty and beautiful scenery..You can view hundreds of monkies alike wanting to have a piece of your banana..If you like to take pics with them, you can they sure know how to pose to! See this pic? They pose in the waiting shade and beyond that is the bay...
