Is the Hilton, Hua Hin safe

by Adaptor-Plug

Is the Hilton Hua Hin safe in the wardrobes in your room or do you have to use the one at reception?

We're buggered if we can find the thing. Spent ages looking already.

Re: Is the Hilton, Hua Hin safe

It is an expensive hotel for Thailand. When you have thousands of tourists staying in places around 500 baht without any real problems your place should be no different. Best thing is to not bring very expensive jewelry with you anyway. Keep it home in your own safe. If you have an old heirloom that you would cry over if it became lost or stolen leave it home! When you are on planes, trains, buses, taxis don't keep your valuable jewels or cash in the checked in bag - in any country not just Thailand!

When classy expensive hotels have something stolen it could be from your fellow tourists in nearby rooms. Long term employees know they have a gold mine and customers in expensive places often over tip - so they want to keep their jobs!

I wouldn't worry about losing something from a safe in your room or at the front desk. You can use a debit card in an ATM if you want, remember to tell your bank you will be overseas. There is a 150 baht fee to use an ATM so take out the maximum you can at one time to save on fees. You can bring travelers checks in high denominations, they are very safe! It is very easy to cash a TC at the local bank money changers, you have to produce your passport and know your room number.

Some banks and many credit unions in your country sell travelers checks without any commission if you are a member. You can record the serial numbers of your travelers checks and even large currency in email form that you send to yourself and then save into memory. If something comes up stolen you can identify your currency and replace the TC's. This is good for other "need to remember" information.

Can't find what thing? Looking for the hotel? Many hotel links have a map link:

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

PEACE AND QUIET IN THAILAND

by mamasan69

I would take others to explore around the city and in the ocean or beach. My time was spent doing this activity during my stay here, and it was a nice relaxing end to my journey.
****UPDATE****I have plans already to go back to Hua Hin with my girlfriend and her friends in September. How good I slept may be the best memory, as the waves washed underneath me as the tide came in. This helped add to the peaceful time that I had while in Hua Hin.
That was the good part of my sleep, the bad was the rock hard bed I was sleeping on.

20meter tall Buddha

by JanetChan

We rented a motorcycle and travel around Hua Hin following the Tourist Information Guide Book we get from the railway station. This Buddha is somewhere near the Twin hills of Khao Takiab (Chopstick Peaks).

Nice view from the beach :D

One thing to be careful if you are renting a Honda Wave Bike in Hua Hin.. For inexperience rider like myself, i almost ski the bike when approaching the beach... So be careful :D

be careful !!!

by 1W1V about Chao Lay Seafood

Went once there for dinner. The location is excellent on the beach and the service is acceptable. We ordered seafood and veg spring rolls. The food was ok but the post-dinner was not as fun as the eating time itself !!! could not sleep at all but for sure it was the seafood !!!
I don't want to say that they cannot deal with seafood but at least the dish was not very well cooked or the squid was not too fresh ! Grilled squid

Elephant Riding at Hin Fat Lei elephant village

by Yammi123

we did a 0.5hr ride for 600B/person (i think 1hr is 800B but it's too long in the heat). You get to watch a little elephant show at the end. They treated the animals really nice so i felt ok about giving them tips.

Hin Lek Fai - Overlooking Hua Hin bay

by iNorv9

An excellent place to view some fine vistas of the Hua Hin environs, Mount Hin Lek Fai is about a 5 km trip west of Hua Hin. I went during the evening, but I was also told that this is a great place to take in the sunrise from about 05:30 - 06:30. Once at the top there are a few short trails to various viewpoints, and a nice statue of King Rama VII.

Transportation: A taxi should be about 200 baht ($5) from central Hua Hin. Be sure to bargain with the driver.

Bottom-line: Easily accessible and some of the best views in the region.
