Quiet beach
by syllybabe
The beachfront of Central Hua Hin Village (run by Central and Accor together with Sofitel) has a little bit too much of a concentration of umbrellas and lounge chairs. Since this is a public beach, this is where you'll see some of the vendors from the Chatchai Market during the day selling seafood snacks and cold beverages.
Because we arrived on a Tuesday afternoon around sunset, the beach was pretty quiet and not much business going on.
Mostly junk and rags
by nomadig about Hua Hin Shopping Mall
The centrally located Hua Hin Shopping Mall looks good on the map, but the feeling evaporates as you step inside. The whole place is filled with small stalls that sell all kinds of rags and other junk. Everything is catered; babies, toddlers, teens, males, females and so forth. Without any specific order.
The clerks (or shop owners, I don't know) don't speak that much of English, so be prepared to wave hands, show stuff and use calculator. The stuff is relatively cheap, but the experience is horrible.
There is a bigger grocery store at the other end of the complex, and it would be worth visiting -- but Tesco Lotus a couple of kilometers south is much better alternative.
Thai pizza chain
by Willettsworld about Pizza Company
This is a pizza chain that's located along the main road that runs through Hua Hin that you can find all over Thailand that's very similar to a Pizza Hut or a Dominos in the west - in fact there's a Pizza Hut right next door to it! I filled myself up with a few of their pizzas during my travels around Thailand as it was nice to take a break from rice and noodles once in a while. They do pan crust, crispy crust, cheese crust pizza types with a large range of toppings and combo meals.
Takiab Beach
by Mahieu
A very quiet beach, where you can relax in the few beach chairs that are available. In the early evening, you can enjoy Thai youth playing football on the beach. It's a great place, far away from the mass tourism of the bigger Hua Hin beach.
Things to do around Hua Hin
by sarahreynold
If you are staying at the main beach area of Hua Hin I agree when the tide comes in the width of beach is greatly reduced, but if you are in Takiab and in particular Hua Don Beach then you won't have that problem as the beach stays wide all day and night.
For things to do there are trips to Sam Roi Yot National Park south of Hua Hin which is a nice day out, temples and caves and also the mangrove swamps/mashlands and also the birdwatching area. You can also go north to Kraechan National Park for a more off road jungle trip. Temples at Phetchaburi are well worth the half day toru. Palau U Waterfall gets you into forst areas.
The day trip 2 hours south to Bang Saphan and Koh Talu island for snorkeing is a great day out which you should enjoy.
In town there are restaurants, night markets, bars. The Sasi restaurant and Thai Show is well worth seeing, close to the Hyatt Regency Resort. It is good value and they collect you if you are staing in Hua Hin, one price including the dinner and show.
