Jellyfish

by lorna41

I visited Hua Hin about 15 years ago, and the sea was full of jelly fish so was no good for swimming. Is it still the same? Also we stayed in a room on the old fishing pier I wonder if this place is still there and what the name is.
Hope someone can help
Lorna

Re: Jellyfish

We were there in late February and it was fine (few if any jellies). However, the water isn't as nice there as other places - maybe it's just a bit too close to the Chao Phraya? So unless it's nostalgia you are going for, I'd see something new this time like Koh Chang.

Cheers,
Damon

Often you see jellyfish following rains, it varies a lot, I have not seen so many on the south beaches and the further south the beaches tend to be clearer.

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

Truck

by yen_2

I was laughing when I saw a truck and a tuk-tuk beside the beach? Honestly, that was my first time to see a truck running around the beach...It's not really typical for me though..or poor me?lol In my country, trucks don't run around beside the beach!

Drive

by kyoub

There are inexpensive rentals on the streets.
That is where we got our jeep. It was not new but it got us around.
The big thing was they wanted the drivers passport for security.
That was no problem until it was time to turn the car in and go to the airport.
The owner of the car could not be found..
They looked for him everywhere, his house, his sisters, his brothers, finally they found someone that could open the lock box and get my husbands passport for him.
Very scary for a while there. I bet he doesn't do that again.

Great beach restaurant in Hua hin

by sarahreynold about Let's Sea Restaurant Hua Hin

Let's Sea is located on the beach in the Khao Takiab Beach area of Hua Hin. Indoor or outside dining. Thai and Asia fusion cuisine. Open for luch or dinner. very popular at weekends. Lovely views relaxing on the deck. Very romantic venue also.

Elephant Trek

by M.E.R.V

If you get to the Elephant Village, you should just fork out that Bh700 for an hour trek while Jumbo the Elephant takes you trekking around his hometown. A bit of the pain in the ass but the water bit was quite exciting. And after the ride, a coconut and fruits to quench your thirst courtesy of the house for ripping you off the first place! Recommended to those city kids who haven't seen an elephant in real their entire life! Hahaha!

One of my favorite Thai resorts.

by cachaseiro

Hua hin is a fairly quiet resort town set in a small Thai provinsial town.
The Thai roal family holidays there and that means the place has a lot less of the sleazy prostitution scene you see elewhere in other Thai resorts.
For the same reason, Hua Hin is very popular with families.
It's located close to Bangkok which also means it's a favorite hangout for upper/middle class thais from Bangkok during weekends.
