Off to Hua Hin
by syllybabe
It was a choice between the bus and the train but we took Winston's suggestion and hopped on a cab to Hualamphong to catch the 1o'clock train.
We were railroaded by touts with official looking ID's as soon as we got off the cab and were ushered into a travel agency across the street. Fortunately, we'd already done our homework and knew the moment he tried to sell us a first class sleeper for over 700baht that we were in the wrong place. Firmly saying no, thank you, we went back inside the train station to buy our tickets.
Pranburi Forest Park - Mangrove Nature Trail
by Paul_the_Seeker
Pranburi is a short distance south of Hua Hin. The park extends from the beach inland into a large mangrove. There is a trail through the mangrove consisting entirely of a deck/walkway with interpretive signs (in Thai) and a few observation points. Great care was taken to avoid cutting too much of the mangroves. Here is a map: Pranburi Map
Variety Local Thai Food ...At Night
by Wann about Hua Hin Night Market
Many times I have dinner in Hua Hin night market. There's a variety of local food (Thai Food). Although it's crowded but I feel it's lively there, plenty to see and enjoy the food. There're many ranges of price. After dinner, I always relax by walking around… All Thai Dishes

Hua Hin Railway Hotel...
by syllybabe
Now called the Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort, the Railway Hotel was built by the State Railway in 1923, a year after they extended the rail system from Bangkok for easier access to the Hua hin Summer Palace. It originally had bungalows and then a two story brick hotel with 28 rooms. They also built a nearby golf course and tennis courts.
Take a stroll around the hotel's 13 hectare grounds even if you don't check in. There is a topiary garden with bushes trimmed into animal shapes and even a huge elephant which you can walk under.
