Hua Hin Weather and accommodation in January
by sarahreynold
Wearher should be fine in Hua Hin in January. You certainly must book accommodation in advance as it is peak season. if you arrive without booked accommodation you 'may' find some place to stay but you would have to take whatever accommodation is available - you would not have been able to choose in advance.
Chopstick Mountain
by YaaDong
Head to Chopstick Mountain if you want to see a giant 17 metre tall golden Buddha Statue, in the ‘calming the ocean’ posture and standing against the cliff wall.It is about 4km south of Hua Hin.
A temple at the top of the hill, Wat Khao Takiap, offers bird's eye views of Hua Hin, day or night. Climbing the temple-topped hill of Khao Takiap is well worth it for in addition to its panoramic views there are scatterings of Buddhist shrines, and wild macaque monkeys (to be wary of) on the cliffs and in the tree tops.
Excellent Seafood Platter !!
by mdhenson about Fisherman's Wharf
This English-owned restaraunt is generally aimed at Western customers, with a varied menu including meat dishes for those who aren't only into sea food. The choice, value and freshness of the sea food could not be faulted, and a substantial meal for 2 cost around $20, including drinks!
What we especially enjoyed was the situation - a raised seating area right opposite the entrance to the pier, with Thai children playing in the street, and Fish market workers going about their business.
We enjoyed friendly service, and a good atmosphere at this sister restaurant to Buffalo Bills, a steak house in Central Hua Hin. We would strongly recomend the Seafood Platter, a speciality of the executive Chef, Tony Fox, which included Lobster Thermidor, 'slipper' lobsters, Kings Prawns, Garlic Mussels and Coated Cuttlefish - and that was just for 2 people!
We also had King Prawn salad and Crisp Sea Bass on an earlier visit -again excellent.
Catch A Local Bus To Phetchaburi
by YaaDong
A nice day trip to do while you are in Hua Hin is to catch the local bus to Phetchaburi town. It's very cheap and you get to see abit of the countryside. While in Phetchburi visit King Mongut 's old palace 'Khao Wang' situated on top of a hill . From the top of this cool palace you can get a very good view of the surrounding area .You can also walk into some parts of the palace which have been converted into a museum .The palace is open everyday but the museum is closed on Mondays & Tuesdays.
Chao Mae Tap Tim - The Crocodile Wat
by iNorv9
This little temple atop a hill is probably most well known for its large crocodile sculpture overlooking the Pranburi River. There are also some nice views of the distant Khao Sam Roi Yod National Park.
