by syllybabe When we got off the taxi from the train station, we had a few ideas from the Lonely Planet guide as to where we wanted to stay. Winston suggested the Anantara, which, would have been perfect as well, but it was farther down the beach and we didn't really have time to explore since we arrived after 5pm. The first hotel we checked out was the Hilton but I was the first to shake my head no when I saw that it was a high rise. That is just not my idea of a beach getaway. When we took a peek inside Central Huahin Village, it reminded us of cottages in Baguio but with a beach setting...not bad...and the rate, 5,540baht for a two bedroom bungalow. With that, we checked in. After dropping our bags inside the room, off we went for our walk on the beach and to our next door neighbor, the Sofitel. Bing, the hotelier that she is, loved it but hardly expected the prices to be reasonable. When we were told it wasn't the 7000baht we read from the guidebook, Bing begged her husband to move. Toots didn't really have a choice in the matter. The only thing left for him to do was move the bags and find me someone to share my room with ;-) Don't get me wrong. Central Hua hin Village was great. We could have stayed there and still had breakfast and enjoyed the facilities next door but we liked Sofitel too much on sight.
Pool, quiet, secluded bungalows, right on the beach, and great value.
