Re: boat charter Hua Hin

by Monica_lo

I am not sure but I think there is now a place that does some cruises on small boats from Hua Hin, I think it has Marine or mermaid in the name, not sure, try a search on Yahoo Thailand and it should be there, I have seen some mention of these in the local travel magazines in Thailand but honestly did not take too much notice, I think it could be Mermaid Cruises or something similar to that.

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

Spirit House

by kyoub

Spirit houses are erected to placate the spirits of the land, traditionally before construction of a new building.
They are then adorned daily with insense, flowers, or anything to mollify the spirit.
There is a spirit house on one of the corners on the main street of Hua Hin where people take their offerings each day.

Transportaion from Bkk to Airport

by bulldogtwo

The Bangkok drop off location is going to depend on what typre of transpo you are taking from Hua Hin? as well as the type of bus. Most buses are going to drop off at various hotel locations. You would want to be dropped off at a locations on Sukhumvit RD around soi 4 and Ploenchit. From there I would catch a taxi rather than a bus to the airport, much less run around and much faster and wont cost that much more.

As far as get from Hua Hin to Bangkok, a bus can take anywhere from 4-6 hours, again, depending on the type of bus you take. There are many mini vans that make the trip, just make sure that you know where you are going to get dropped off once you reach Bangkok. The mini vans are going to be a little more expensive and take about 3-4 hours, usually less depending on traffic, day of the week etc...
good luck

Quick eats

by nomadig about New York Deli

If you are looking for something fast and small to eat, check out New York Deli / Coffee World / Pizza Corner restaurant in Sailom Pavilion minimall on Darmern Kasem Road. The place does not serve any Thai food, so it may cure homesickness, too.

There are three counters in the restaurant, one for each brand. You seemingly can shop anything from any counter and get them into single bill -- at least in our case. The deli has some good hot sandwiches, pizza counter sells pizza by slices and the coffeeshop has sweet stuff and of course a good selection of hot and cold drinks.

Hungry monkeys!

by M.E.R.V

The 'live' monkey show is at the temple on Khao Takiab. You have to walk quite a bit after the flight of steps from the Golden Buddha statue if not you will never find them at all! If you want the monkeys to perform you will have to bring some food along. They eat anything to be honest and their thirsty for more! You expose a bag of peanuts and about 50 of them come running to you and most of the time they get away by snatching the bag of nuts then fight amongst themselves. They scratch, so be careful! Im sure this monkey show would have been more entertaining than the one at the training centre, and what's more - it's free! (---my favourite! Hahaha!

Pranburi, Hua Hin

"Aleenta Resort"

We stayed at Aleenta resort which is about 30mins away from Hua Hin town. It took us almost 4 hrs to travel by car from Bangkok airport to the resort.
It is a very nice and small resort (only 15 villas), ideal for couples away on honeymoon! All villas are by the beach. No TV, only entertainment u will get is an ipod with bose system!
We enjoyed our stay there except for the few power trips which happened due to persistent rain.
Most villas come with a private pool & a hammock for those lazy afternoons! :)

"The private "pool""

Just good enough for 2 people!
