The Wora Bura Resort hotel is a classic design beach resort and spa on the beach in Hua hin. The style is very 1900 - 1920's, superb design. The rooms are well appointed and there is plenty of garden area at the Wora Bura. The pool is nice and in addition to the main restaurant at the Wora Bura there is also a smaller restaurant and bar area near the pool and beach. Streps down to the beach.

Do be sure to visit the other beaches in the area around Hua Hin. South of Hua Hin are Hua Don Beach, Suan Son Beach. You can then go further along the coast to the beaches around Pranburi including Dolphin Bay and the deserted beaches along the coast of the Sam Roi Yot National Park. The main beach in Hua Hin stretches from near the Sofitel all the way to South beach at Khao Takiab past the Hyatt Regency and Wora Bura.
One of the best benefits of Hua Hin beach hotels is that they are truly right on the beach, no beach road to cross, so you have direct beach access from your Hua Hin hotel or resort.
Cha Am and Hua Hin flow into eachother. depending where you stay in Cha Am you would be no more than 10-20 minutes maximum into the center of Hua Hin.
pranburi is different as that is a good 35-45 minutes south, again depending where you stay.
There is no point staying at different places. I would stay in Hua Hin from where you can take tours to the nearby national parks, visit the Elephant village, take the day trip to Bang Saphan and Koh Talu for snorkeling.
In both Cha Am and Hua hin there are excellent top hotels and resorts, you have not mentioned though your budget. Hyatt Regency and Sofitel are excellent, also you have Marriott, Wora Bura and Hilton ( though I am no fan of the Hilton as it is a tall high rise ). The Anantara and Alisa Suites are north of Hua hin town on the way to Cha Am, then you have the Sheraton, Dusit Thani, Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott.
There are some excellent boutique hotels in Hua Hin, the Baan Bayan is classic in style.
I have never heard of any hovercraft service. from Bangkok you can travel by taxi or limousine service, those are the fastest, by train is about 4 hours. If you are on a budget frequent express buses.
Hua Hin has a good choice of hotels and resorts. Some of the more famous Hua Hin hotels are the Hyatt Regency Resort, Luxury Hua Hin hotels like the Sofitel, the Hilton, Chiva Som, the new Sheraton Hua Hin, Hyatt Regency, Wora Bura, the Anantara Hua Hin, there are many fine Hua Hin hotels. Smaller boutique resorts offering high standard and luxury include the Kaban Tamor Hua Hin. Hotel rates for Hua Hin vary a great deal with the large number of Hua Hin hotels available. The Wora Bura resort hotel in Hua Hin is just past the Hyatt, in addition to the Wora Bura another new boutique resort is The Rock Hua Hin Hotel. The Rock is a modern and trendy place to stay in Hua Hin. All these luxury Hua Hin hotels and resorts are on the beach and with no beach roads to cross you have access right onto the beach. There are also discount rates for Hua Hin hotels and you often find very good reviews for these hotels. Baan laksasubha and nern Chalet are both good choices for accommodation at the beach in Hua Hin.
Hua Hin is popular budget travelers and also with long stay travelers. Hua Hin Guesthouses range from about 300 baht to about 1,500 baht depending on accommodation and quality. In the centre of Hua Hin there are budget guesthouses and also along the beach south of Hua Hin town other guest house accommodation. Therer are many new guest house accommodations and Bed and Breakfast lodgings in Hua Hin.
There are also holiday bungalows a short walk from the beach. Coral keys Bungalows are nice. rates various on size of accommodation, between THB 1,400 and THB 2,500 per night including breakfast, nice if you want to be in a more natural Thai beach area plus own bungalows so near to the beach in Hua Hin.

I've heard lots of different stories about this hotel. Anybody else got an opinion??????
Some like it, others hated it!!!!!
The Anantara resort is very nice, Thai style, better rooms are actualy not close to the beach, the downside though is that the beach is not wide at all and is certainly not one of the better beaches, perhaps if the beach is important try the South beach are around Khao Takiab, places like the Hyatt Regency or the new Wora Bura Hua Hin. Also there is not that much around the Anantara, my own opinion is that the South and Takiab beach areas are far better. If you go to huahin.20m.com or try Beachsiam.com you will find lots of photos of those and it shows you the different locations.
We stayed there this Easter and had a great holiday but we upgraded to the Lagoon rooms. It is a hotel of two parts if you are in the Lagoon side it is fabby but I would not recomend the standard part of the hotel.
