Re: bangkok to hua hin mini buses

I took one on Jan. 25 from Hua Hin to BKK and the price was 200 Baht. They made one stop for fuel and two others to let people off along the way. The pick-up/drop-off area in Hua Hin is two blocks from the night market. I took the first one of the day at about 6am. They don't leave until they are full. So if your question is if they are running they definitely are.

Travel Tips for Hua Hin

Toilet Amenities

by paleypei

I love the shower gels, shampoos, conditioner and moisturizer that they provide. It has an unique scent of mint mixed with sea breeze. Wonderful combination. Frangipani flowers are also used in their decoration of the rooms.

Prachuap Khiri Khan

by kyoub

Close to 80km south of Hua Hin is the another beach town called Prachuap Khiri Khan.
There you will also find Khao Chong Krajok ( Mirror Tunnel Mountain) named after the hole through the side of the mountain that appears to reflect the sky.
At the top of the mountain is Wat Thammikaram. You can climb the 399 steps to the top and see nice views of the town and bay. Before you climb the steps you must buy some bananas from the ladies selling them, to feed the monkeys, or they won't let you pass.

by mamasan69 about Sunshine Resturant & Bakery

The restaurant is tucked in back, between two other buildings on the street. This makes it look quite small from the outside, but when you walk in it opens up into a split ceiling eating area.
They cater to German tourists as you could tell by the menu, however I ate the Thai food instead. The waitresses all wear German style outfits and the service is good. There is also a bakery located inside the restaurant which make fresh goods all the time.
Inside the bakery there is also an internet cafe if you need to use one, which we found was handy. We were staying just down the road, so the location for us was perfect.
I liked the food and the general setup of the place, however some of the meals can be a little expensive (especially with beer). The dish that I found they make the best for me was the beef and fried noodles. I had this dish at a number of places in Thailand, but here was the best one.
It is a large serving for what it cost (90bht) and it is more than enough to fill you up. It also comes with fresh bread for starters from the bakery.

Tuk tuk ride

by nomadig

Tuk Tuk, the little moped taxi that delivers, is an enigmatic figure to Thailand and no trip is complete without riding those at least once. In big cities, they can be hauled from any street corner, but on smaller towns you might need to know where to catch one.

Remember to settle the price beforehand and try not to listen any touting from the driver. My friend got three proposals for going to a girly club instead of the business meeting -- you probably get ripped off and the driver gets a finder's fee.

When on board, remember to keep a firm grip on a rail and on your belongings. The thing is a speedy devil, and some drivers do cut corners straight.

Photo opportunities

by syllybabe

This was supposed to turn out perfectly but I was handholding when I should have used a tripod...or at least got a bit less excited so I could steady my hands for this pic.

Thought I'd share it with you anyway. The opportunity to compose the same shot may never come again. Too bad I ruined it.
