Jolly frog

by wendyjol

Is Jolly frog a suited accomodation for a family of 4 (kids 11 and 13)?

RE: Jolly frog

by K1W1

I would say that the Jolly Frog would be fine for kids - there's a good garden area with hammocks, sun loungers and plenty of space. The restaurant is very good there as well.

Travel Tips for Kanchanaburi

Becoming a monk

by thedouglas

We happened to chance upon this ceremony in Kanchanaburi, which can only be described as a monk induction - the families were arriving with their sons, and they new young monks-to-be were having their heads shaved for the first time - and dressing in the saffron robes of the brotherhood.

Aware of the reverence with which religion and its rituals are regarded, we kept a discrete distance, and snapped a few equally discrete pics!

Taking a shower Erawan Style!!

by herzog63

This was one of the bigger waterfalls that we got to experience at Erawan. And it had some nice cool water flowing over the rocks so we got cooled down without having to deal with those fish tickling our ribs and other body parts! LOL

BUFFET LUNCH

by Nina-Maarit about Restaurant near the Wang Po Station

After the train trip along the 'Death Railway' our group got off at the Wang Po Station, and we went to have some lunch at the restaurant quite near the station. The restaurant was in the middle of the rain forest and there's a roof but no walls, so it's very close to nature.

The local buffet lunch was pretty ok, but it was obviously made for the tourists, since it was lacking spices. We are used to the very spicy Thai food and love it, so we would have been happier with real Thai flavour...

The JEATH war museum

by Robert_Hun

One of the "highlights" in Kanchanaburi is the war museum which is an authentic replica of a camp hut where POWs (prisoners of war) lived during WW2.
JEATH is an acronym of the concerned countries: Japan, England, Australia, Thailand and Holland.
It contains lots of pictures and other memorabilia. It's really shocking how POWs and other Asian workers lived, worked and died (almost 100,000 victims!) here under Japanese reign.

Boat Ride Along The River

by YaaDong

From Kasem Island we booked a boat tour for about 500 baht each. The boatman took us on a good tour of the river Kwai.We saw the bridge, war cemetery ,caves and temples .At one point it stared to rain so we got soaked during an afternoon shower but we quickly dried off.
