Jolly Frog Backpackers

We were recommended this by a German who lives in town. Glad he did. Really good value, quiet and relaxing. Spacious room with large double bed, furnishings, marble like floor, air con, fan and attached bathroom. This for 290B. Cheapest option is room with shared bathroom for 70B. The rooms are centred around a lawn garden with really
relaxing deckchairs and hammocks, looks onto the river Kwai. The food in the restaurant is amazing and cheap. For example Fried Rice with Pork for 25B. The whole place is really clean. Mixture of ages. Some people come here to of out of Bangkok for a while or just as part of their travels. Has a book shop and plays DVD's everynight. Jolly Frog offers minibus service back to Khao San Road, Bangkok for 140B.

I stayed in a Double Room with fan and bathroom for 200B/night. My room was located on the 2nd floor overlooking the lawn. The room was simple and clean. The building itself was right by the river. There was a couple of chairs that you could sit and read a book just outside each room. The lawn in the center was well maintained with a couple of hammocks. It was definitely a great place for sunbathing or for kids to run around. The attached restaurant served western and Thai food, and it was a good meeting place with other travellers. A tour agency is on site to arrange for tours in the area.

All kinds of rooms are available, from single room with shared bathroom to family room with 4 beds.

Directions: about 1km north of the Kanchanaburi bus station

Bungalows by the river Kwai with great views, a good restaurant and clean, cheap accomodation. What more do you need ?
There are people to help you plan your stay and sell excursions around the attractions of Kanchanaburi.
70 Baht for a single with fan,

Aircon and private bathroom cost a little more.

Unique Quality: RIght on the the river. You can also stay in one of their floating bungalows, right on the river.

Directions: About 2.5 kms downstream from The Bridge.

The surrounding of this hostle are great. Overlooks the river (even though it's dirty and brown). They have a great landscape with hammocks under coconut treets and beautiful trees and flowers.

Very cheap price. No flush toilets but still well maintained.

Over day trips to Erawan falls (recommended).

Restaurant will good food (prices are average...would be cheaper to eat elsewhere). They play english movies at night.

The Jolly Frog Backpackers is a little way out of town but set in a fantastic setting right by the river kwai. The hostel has a huge garden area perfect for chillin out right by the river! They have a restaurant so you can eat cheap. Theres internet next door too. Just a few minutes walk down the road are many floating restaurants on the river kwai. The rooms are great, clean with all that you'd need! A double costs 150baht(£2.50).
