Kanchanaburi Resorts by the Waterfalls

by Melanie_Putra

Hi Guys!
We will be travelling by car to Kanchanaburi for 2 nights stay. Wondering whether there are any resorts that are right next to the waterfalls or at least have nice streams running in the resort's ground? I know there are a few by the river but I prefer streams and waterfalls to river...
Thanks!

Hi

Last time we were in Kanchanaburi we ate several times at "The jolly frog".
It's a backpackers' guesthouse that also has a restaurant. They serve great food and compared to others their prices are great ! One of the best places and certainly the cheapest we've eaten at when in Thailand !
Check out their website : http://www.jollyfrog.net/

Thanks, Jojes. I will definitely try them out!

Travel Tips for Kanchanaburi

Thied largest province in Thailand

by norain

Kanchanaburi is the site of the world-famous Bridge Over The River Kwae. It takes only 2 hours comfortable drive from Bangkok. You can enjoy the beauty scenics of mountains, waterfalls, national park and tranquil riverside. Here is a place for natural lovers. I'm sure you can make memorable holidays here.

What to bring for 3-day trip?

by Sambawalk

Your own backpack is good enough. Some people may take only a few cloths and leave thier luggage behind in Bangkok. This is not necessary as the minivan/tour guides will make good arrangement for you so that you don't need to carry your stuff while trekking. This allows you to have adequate supply of everything. After all, if you only need a few clothes for 3 days trip, then why do you carry the whole backpack (10-15 kgs?) in the first place? Common sense stuff

Overcharging-Minibus from Bangkok

by traceyspacey

We decided to get the minibus this time from Bangkok to here. We knew that it cost 150B each coming the other way as we had done it before. We popped into a travel agent on Soi Rambuttri and were shocked to be quoted 250B each. We started to walk out, when we were asked what price we were looking for? We said 150B as that is how much is charged coming the other way. The travel agent was very surprised that we knew the price. After a quick call we were offered 170B each.

The minibus was 30 minutes late picking us up. We were driven around the corner and transferred to another bus. To our surprise we were dropped off at the Jolly frog as requested.

CORRECTION- Minibus from Jolly Frog 120B not 150B as stated.

Thai Foods

by yen_2 about Jungle View Restaurant

So, we had a buffet Thai lunch in this amazing and relaxing restaurant! I wasn't paying too much attention to the view as I was very hungry! We arrived around 1:30pm so, I don't have much time to the place. They have some delicious foods that were worth tasting for. Hubby had these food here(photo). The thai stri fried chicken with soy sauce was yum..yum..and so with the other foods. Most of the tours has a buffet lunch! All the Thai foods that were prepared just for us was delicious.

The famous bridge of course

by Mahieu

I don't know how many stories I had to hear about the bridge and the movie. About the movie not being taped here, about this not being the real bridge, ...
Oh well, to me it was a nice place to discover, so that's what counts, right?
Unneedless to say that this is a very touristic site. Buses drop their tourists in front of the bridge, let them go over the bridge and leave for the next destination.
I won't give you all the historical details about this bridge, there are other websites for that. Just know that with the building of this bridge, lots of people died in unbearable conditions during World War II. A war museum (JEEATH) and several war cemetaries are there to remind us of the horrible thing that happened.
