Hotel Suggestions?

by cl3150

I am planning on being in Kanchanaburi in January, and would like to get some recommendations for a nice, well-located hotel. The ones I am considering are the Felix Riverside Kwai, the Oriental Kwai, and the River Kwai Village.

Thanks.

Felix Riverside Kwai, room were excellent, the view of the river lovely, the grounds very attractive, and the food good. We had a huge balcony overlooking the tranquil river, and on our first evening were looking forward to a quiet interlude, sharing a bottle of wine as night fell.

Hope you enjoy !!

Travel Tips for Kanchanaburi

Lava Cave

by CandS

One day we went for a longtail boat ride down the River Kwai to a cave...I didn't know what to expect but it ended up being a propper cave with staligmites & staligtites (sp?)...not only that it had BATS! Argh! AND even worse...jumping spiders!!!!! Needless to say, I wasn't overly keen on being in that cave...

Cool off at the Sai Yok Noi Waterfall

by austarman

On the day we went to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok it was very hot and this place was like a small cool oasis.
Sai Yok Noi is a waterfall in the Sai Yok district of Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, near the small town Nam Tok Sai Yok Noi. It is the most popular attraction of the Sai Yok National Park for domestic and foreign tourists alike. The immediate vicinity features a Buddhist shrine, a train and section of rail tracks of the Death Railway that once serviced the area, a highway rest stop, and a small market geared toward travellers.

Bus Bangkok-Kanchanaburi

by Mahieu

The buses for Kanchanaburi leave at the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok every 20 minutes. It took us about 2 hours to get to Kanchanaburi. At the bus stop in Kanchanaburi, there are lots of tuktuk drivers ready to drive you to your hotel or guesthouse.

Floating Market

by Fernandocramos

Its a very touristic place, but its a worth visit.
You can take great photos, but all the stuffs are much more expensive than in any other place.
Try some fried bananas while in the boat, its incredible.

Kanchanaburi War Cemetery

by yen_2

The first stop was at this well known cemetery where all those who take a tour would stop this first before proceeding to any other must to visit. The cemetery is for the reamains of more than 6,000 prisoners of war who lost their lives during the construction of the "Death Railway". The tour guide told us that the cemetery had gone alot of renovations.

I've seen alot os students in the place..I don't know what are they doing there but they're writing something...
