Elephant riding!
by yen_2
Too hot and too humid! but, managed to still be okey..The train we took in going to the Death Railway don't have a toilet and it took us 1/2 hrs to get there so, I waited...after lunch as we had it around 1:30pm, the guide told us that we'll proceed to the elephant area..I was happy...and we ride the ele for an hour..touring the area and I even had a chance to be the driver! that was pretty damn consolation! It was superb though! I rode the ele!!! And it was my first time...Great,eh?
Dogs
by yen_2
There are alot of dogs roaming around. Just stay away when some of them will go on your way..as there are reports about those stray dogs that killed alot of young kids..But, it's not that big deal..give them a food then they'll go away!
ORGANIZED TRIPS
by Nina-Maarit
We booked a trip organized by Turismo Thai, and we were more than satisfied with it! It was a 3-day international trip called River Kwai Jungle & Rafting. There were eight of us plus the guide, Ms Kitima, who was absolutely wonderful! She gave us a huge amount of information about the area, the nature, the people, the food... We could never have learnt all that by ourselves and would have missed so many great experiences, if we had made the trip on our own.
Well-priced food from a huge menu
by Willettsworld about Sri Rung Rueng Restaurant
This restaurant can be found along the road that goes from the Allied War Cemetery to the Bridge over the River Kwai and was near where I was staying at the Ploy Guesthouse. It's a popular bamboo-roofed place with well-priced food from a huge menu of tom kha, tom yam and curries (yellow, red, green, Penang, and matsaman), all available in veg and non-veg versions (B60), plus steaks, seafood (B120) and cocktails (B100).
Patting Tigers in Thailand - Tiger Temple
by astro_kerryn
Wat Pa Luangta Bua Yanasampanno Forest
Monastery (Tiger Temple), in Saiyok District of Kanchanaburi Province
* Do a tour to the Tiger Temple, where you can pat tigers and play with monkeys at an animal rehabilitation centre run by a group of Buddhist monks. The tour can be organised at the Jolly Frog Backpackers and costs 150 Baht ($6) The tour departs daily at 3pm.
I actually went on a two day/one night tour (I booked at a travel agency on Khao San Rd) which was around 150 baht and included the War Cemetary, elephant tracking, rafting, sleeping on the water, waterfalls (swimming) and food etc. There were six of us on the tour and we asked the operator to detour and take us to the Tiger Temple as well. They agreed to do this for extra money of course!! We gave him 400 baht for petrol to go there and he didn't put any petrol in! We then rang out of petrol on the highway curing a monsoon!!!! Oh well, the temple was definately worth a drenching, a crazy driver and poor conditions in general!
I recommend booking a tour in Thailand, because its much cheaper than booking from abroad. This goes for any tour, including to Cambodia and Vietnam. But the conditions may not suit a princess!!
