Transportation from BKK (airport)- to Ko Chang

by FHO

Hi guys!
We arrive in the morning to BKK (08:30) and would like to get to Ko Chang the same day.
Could you help us with the tips on how to get the budjet way from the airport in BKK to Ko Chang?
I realize there some buses to Trat and then a boat but I can`t find time tables for both and aprox prices?

Could someone also suggest wjat to see around Ko Chang? Maybe some other islands to visit with overnight stay?

All ideas are very welcome!!!

Thailand has excellent bus network. We did this route from Khaosan road (directly to island, price included ferry), by mini bus but you can take local bus from eastern bus station in BKK by yourself.

I think you will find more information on this web site here:
http://www.travelfish.org/location/thailand/eastern_thailand/trat/ko_chang

click on transport option, the brownish icon. It's good web site for budget travellers in SEA. Has also information on prices.

Hope thise helps,
v.

Travel Tips for Ko Chang

Unsteady weather during the monsoon months

by georeiser

Koh Chang is a national park with mountains and rainforrest. The mountains makes the weather unsteady and very rainy during the monsoon months. I was there in July 2007 and have never seen so much rain before. The road beside White beach was loaded with 10-15 cm water, and the shops around were flooded.

Ban Bang Bao, life in the village at poles

by sachara

Most of the life in the fishing village at poles Ban Bang Bao takes place at the water. When we visited the village we saw the pounding of a paste with fish in a huge wooden pot, we saw the washing of the dishes at the wooden pier and everywhere we saw that dried fish and octopus.

The second time we visited the village by boat and we went ashore to visit the coconut farm we passed the place where the fishermen took their bath. Marco joined them for a while and took a picture.

Long Beach

by aukjejetty

Most tourist will stay at either White Sands Beach or Kai Bae. There are a few beaches further south, where the very popular backpack huts "Treehouse" is at Lonely Beach.
Very few people go to the other side of the island. There are quite a few resorts there, but there is one place that is perfect for backpackers who come for some quiet, relaxing time. It is a place called Long Beach (LB), the huts just opened up here and the beach is still unspoiled.
You can contact me for more information, I should have the phonenumber somewhere. If you are interested I will look it up for you.

Hat Sai Khao - White Sand Beach

by SumTingWong

Hat Sai Khao (White Sand Beach) on the west coast of Koh-Chang is a really nice beach. Here you can go swimming or just relax on the beach. The water is extremely warm (about 28 degrees). The sand is fine, and just nice to step on. The water is aqua-blue and crystal clear/clean. The beach is also quite wide and not crowded at all!!!! You must go!
