Beach Chalets in front of the beach at Ao Prao. by karin_kamphuis This is the tropical paradise you're looking for!!! Nice beautiful houses made of wood in front of the beach (all beachview). Nice bathroom, kingsize bed, lovely decorated and very clean. You have you're own picknicktable at the terrace, with a lovely view at the beach. We went there for 3 nights, but wish we could stay there for a month!!!! We spend the days with swimming, sunbathing, watching movies (special moviechannels in your room!), dining on the beach, snorkeling, etc.
* Great view at the beach * Nice beach with free chairs and parasol * Great restaurant; cheap compared with European standards * Nice wooden chalets with lovely furnishing * Great crew, very friendly and helpfull * Nice thaise massage at the beach * Great Island for relaxing and for love-couples Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 60 Moo 4 Tambol Phe, Koh SametPhone: Tel : 662 438 9771-2Directions: Ao Prao Resort 60 Moo 4 Tambol Phe, Koh Samet, Rayong 21160 Left side from the Island (west Coast) at Ao Prao.Website: http://www.aopraoresort.com/ Other Contact: rsv@aopraoresort.com%20

Our deluxe room (see pics) was a smallish wooden chalet up on the hill, with a tiny bit of a seaview (much of it was obscured by the tall trees and surrounding shrubs). We had our own little balcony furnished with a low table, two chairs and one wooden clothes hanger. (see below under "Memories are made of This" for more on this clothes hanger.) If you have a larger budget, it would be worth your while to spring for a beach-front cottage/bungalow. Our friend who was with us on this trip had managed to book one of these. The bungalow/cottage was not only newer but also larger as compared to our wooden hillside chalets. The bathroom here was about the same size as in the Deluxe Room. The difference was that the balcony for this beachfront cottage/bungalow was right on the beach (see pics, which shows the resorts' own ferry landing here) and you can walk out directly out onto the beach - which is great ! In-room lighting here was also brighter. (The only downside, depending on your point of view and whether you're a night bird or early sleeper, was that some of these beachfront bungalows are located very close to the restaurant. The lounge singers could be heard practically all night, even from inside the bungalow. LOL ) Overall, if you ask me, yes, we would stay here again, but we'd opt to pay a bit more for the beachfront bungalow. Not so much for the view, but for the comfort.
There is no pool at this resort, as compared to it's more upmarket sister resort, Le Vimarn. However, the stretch of beach is shared and accessible to guests of both resorts. The beach here was gorgeous (see pics) - not very big, but the water very calm, warm and clear-making it perfect for swimming and also safe for kids. The sand was white, clean and fine. The beachfront on the far side tended to have some rocky bits such as coral and stones, but that was a very minor problem. As a whole, the beach here is lovely and for those who don't like too much sun, there are some beach umbrellas and coconut trees for shade. Memories are made of This What I do remember was that the shower space was rather small and hot water supply was not even-brrrrr very cold because we were there during the rany season and after being soaked to the skin, we really needed some hot water! The wooden clothes hanger outside came in especially handy, but because our clothing were soaked right through, my t-shirt, denim skirt and my husband's shorts never did manage to get dry because the night air was simply too humid. Upon arriving at Le Vimarn, you get the impression of lush greenery surrounded by a small but beautiful beach and chalets that blend unobstrusively into the landscape. Indeed, each of the chalets are built on a hill and all have a beautiful view of the sea. The garden is lush and well looked after (see pics). The beach here is gorgeous and is considered one of the best on the western side of Koh Samet. All the other beaches are on the eastern side of Koh Samet. Located in bay, the waters here are calm all year round, and therefore it is safe to swim. Besides, the water temperature is always warm & welcoming.
Le Vimarn shares a beach with its sister resort Ao Prao Resort, where we had stayed (see next tip). It has a small but very stylish pool which fits and blends so well into the manicured garden that it's not obvious it's there, unless you're looking out for it. The coffee house is an excellent place to relax, holding a drink in your hand and gazing out at sea, and dreaming of life's possibilities. At night, a band plays popular English tunes. In front of the hotel, you'll find free-lance operators who can arrange jet skis, boat tours, kayal rentals, or a relaxing massage. Our hut at Silversands by Rojo72 Silversands is the biggest of all establishments at Ao Phai beach, but still small. They got maybe 20 huts lying directly above the beach and they are very cheap. There is also a small pub and beach disco there, the only at Ao Phai, but it is still a calm place and very good for relaxing vacations of a few days when in Bangkok Hot off the wire!! Silversands has, according to my friend who came back from Koh Samet last wednesday gone through a major renovation. All huts now have TV on the room and a clean, nice feel about them. At present they cost 1000 Baht per night. Just look out there... by yen_2 It's description when I read out the hotels was it's a BOUTIQUE 3 star's..And it really is! Arrived very late and this was our last place we wanted and it turned out to be FULL again! Jesus..=) When I first entered the resort it was very quite and the lush of the garden looks very catching but unfortunately, we didn't got a room. The individually room villas are colored bright blue likes the color of the sky. And noticed each of them have airconditioned which I thought this will be good..has large windows to fully enjoy the gardens when you wake up..geeezzzz...Next time, I will never to book a room first even if it takes that I will be the one person in the hotel if I get there!!!=) I honestly, didn't saw the beach during the day as it's clearly said we got there late at night. But a friend of hubbys told us it really is pretty!
It's right near in the Na Dan Pier. And pretty colored bright blue villas.I'm curiosed...

Moi posing.. by yen_2 Nothing soo special. The rooms has with bed of course, with a small table and 2 chairs. And a bathroom with shower. It's depending in what you like. They have a sea view with fan, double bed and a bathroom which are 1,200baht. The other one is around there orchid garden. Standard rooms with fan, twin beds and no bathroom. Bathrooms in this rooms are being shared outside. And the showers. Daily rent is 400baht-600baht. And for the 800 baht along the garden also with fan, double bed and a small bathroom. It's a bit expensive but considering it's infront of the beach so, from there you will paid the beach for that. If you like camping out, you can have it. 400baht/night, shared bathrooms and with available comforter. And the color of the tent is green! But in this pic, it's blue though my shirt is green..geezzzz..=)
It's infront of the white, crystaline, sandy beach. Whe going there you might want to check the available rooms too. They can get full during the high seasons.. All accomodations on Ko Samet are bungalows between the trees a few mt from the beach. There are many of them and competition can be fierce. I was staying at Ao Phai Huts on Ao Phai Beach. A good, friendly place with reasonably cheap basic wooden bungalows at 200 baht per night (in 1996, probably twice as much by now). Blue and orange? by yen_2 I get to stay there for an afternoon tea time. The resort is quiet clean. Staffs are friendly and they really have pretty sunsets. The villas that I saw was cute enough and I was wondering of going back in that place.
It's a 3 star hotel. It provides water sports in all kinds of equipments.. And they have a massage services in thai traditional style and if you fancy doing massage along the white sandy beach..hmmm, as you pleased, you can do it. Rooms also is a bit of expensive as it's some kinds of classy. The website I put has some nice internet rates..

Jeb's Bangalow by Arjaree Jeb is a very good choice when going to Koh Samet. The houses are decent and it's right at the center of everything. Their beach restaurant is also decent with a good chill-out music played (my fav part) adding the beach mood for you. Food there is nice with average price. I was sitting there all day reading, talking, checking out people, having a massage...ahh heaven!
A good spot to be... Don't believe me? look at the picture. Theme: Pension/GuesthousePrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: Jeb's bangalow, Ao Pai

by bijo69 I went to Ko Samet without a reservation and had to find out that all resort were more than full! Luckily many places had set up tents to provide shelter for those like me. So I got a tent at the Samet Grand View... Well, had a rather sleepless night in it, very hot and full ants... Fortunately I could move into one of their budget (fan & cold water) bungalows the next morning! Nothing special, but ant-free! Besides, the resort has all kinds of AC bungalows and a restaurant.
Right on the beautiful beach!
