For your next honeymoon

Upon arriving at Le Vimarn, you get the impression of lush greenery surrounded by a small but beautiful beach and chalets that blend unobstrusively into the landscape. Indeed, each of the chalets are built on a hill and all have a beautiful view of the sea. The garden is lush and well looked after (see pics). The beach here is gorgeous and is considered one of the best on the western side of Koh Samet. All the other beaches are on the eastern side of Koh Samet.

Located in bay, the waters here are calm all year round, and therefore it is safe to swim. Besides, the water temperature is always warm & welcoming.

Unique Quality: Le Vimarn shares a beach with its sister resort Ao Prao Resort, where we had stayed (see next tip). It has a small but very stylish pool which fits and blends so well into the manicured garden that it's not obvious it's there, unless you're looking out for it.

The coffee house is an excellent place to relax, holding a drink in your hand and gazing out at sea, and dreaming of life's possibilities. At night, a band plays popular English tunes. In front of the hotel, you'll find free-lance operators who can arrange jet skis, boat tours, kayal rentals, or a relaxing massage.

Luxurious

From the road entering this beauty..I know it will be a bit of expensive! The only 4 star hotel/cottages in the island. And the first one who made it to the 4 star's!

When we arrived it was late so, all the cottages was lit up and the cottages are all properly arraged in the small hill behind the road overlooking the pretty beach..It sure is lovely to look at from the truck as we passed by..I was getting excited but for the meanwhile, I thought about the room if they have or how much?! Geeezzz, I'm not much money..=) Excitedly go through the lobby and sit down for awhile to the comfy sofa and over look the beach that was being struck by a moon..If only I have enough money for a presidential suite..Anyway, fully book but they do have a vacant room but it's in Presidential Suite..we find it unnecessary as we arrived late and we'll just go in the room for shower and sleep..though, there's the other side of my instinct that love the place..but see, $300+++nett for only how many hours..Next time, right?heheh

If you can possibly be here, just let it be! Quite place and romantic!

Unique Quality: It's right next to Ao Prao Resort. AS they have the same owner. You can have pretty sunset in this area unlike to the other beach resort mentioned before. This place is in the western part of the island.

Thai New year

by seoulgirl

Hello. We will be in Thailand for Thai New Year. Planning on Bangkok, Pattaya and Ko Samet. Should we book all of our reservations now. What can we expect as far as Thailand tourists in Ko Samet. Will it be packed that whole week.

thanks,
Michelle

Yes it will be busy, if you want to get a decent choice of accommodation use the Thai booking services, big choice and local Thai baht rates. Koh Samet will probably be very busy, what you really need to watch for is transport, buses and trains will be packed, I would make sure you are in one locations over Songkran itself. Pattaya will certainly be packed full too.

What do you suggest that we do? We are open for the whole week. Do you think that we can find a place on Ko Samet ? and will it be peaceful or really populated with Thai tourists? Or other tourists? What to expect there? And will the prices be alot higher. Thanks,
Michelle

Okay. So, we should have a reserved place for the holiday. I understand that. Do you suggest Pattaya or Ko Samet for that time period? Do people take the whole week off? Or should we just be concerned with the 13th through the 15th?

Thank you,
Michelle

Out of the two i would suggest Pattaya...i think you will find the whole Songkran experience more fun. The way it works here in Thailand is that most businesses close down for a week or so (except restaurants, bars, hotels, and service industries), and their employees return home to bewith theri families. We always head to Chiang Mai for Songkran, where it goes on for nearly 2 weeks!!

Michelle ;
Koh Samet or any island in Thailand, will be PACKED with tourists both Thai and foreigners during the Song Kran Thai New Year period which will be from April 8 to 17. Hence, you DO NEED confirmed reservation.

And, not only hotel that will be full, all bus, train, and airline, will also be full as well, so confirmed reservation is mandatory.

Koh Samet is small, and rather not too interesting with not much activities to do. Nice place there will be Le Vimarn, but they are pricey i.e. about 150 us dolalr a night. You can check their website.

Alternatively, I recommend Koh Samui or Koh Tao. The sea is nicer, the island is larger with more things to do, and more choice on hotel as well.
