Silversand lodges: Silversands at Ao Phai
Silversands is the biggest of all establishments at Ao Phai beach, but still small. They got maybe 20 huts lying directly above the beach and they are very cheap. There is also a small pub and beach disco there, the only at Ao Phai, but it is still a calm place and very good for relaxing vacations of a few days when in Bangkok
Hot off the wire!!
Silversands has, according to my friend who came back from Koh Samet last wednesday gone through a major renovation. All huts now have TV on the room and a clean, nice feel about them. At present they cost 1000 Baht per night. (aboutUS$22 today June 5th 2004)

Samet Grand View Resort: Right on the Beach!
I went to Ko Samet without a reservation and had to find out that all resort were more than full! Luckily many places had set up tents to provide shelter for those like me. So I got a tent at the Samet Grand View... Well, had a rather sleepless night in it, very hot and full ants... Fortunately I could move into one of their budget (fan & cold water) bungalows the next morning! Nothing special, but ant-free!
Besides, the resort has all kinds of AC bungalows and a restaurant.
Right on the beautiful beach!

Ao Phai Huts: Beach bungalows
All accomodations on Ko Samet are bungalows between the trees a few mt from the beach. There are many of them and competition can be fierce.
I was staying at Ao Phai Huts on Ao Phai Beach. A good, friendly place with reasonably cheap basic wooden bungalows at 200 baht per night (in 1996, probably twice as much by now).

Jeb's Bangalow: The Best Stay (so far)
Jeb is a very good choice when going to Koh Samet. The houses are decent and it's right at the center of everything. Their beach restaurant is also decent with a good chill-out music played (my fav part) adding the beach mood for you. Food there is nice with average price. I was sitting there all day reading, talking, checking out people, having a massage...ahh heaven!
A good spot to be... Don't believe me? look at the picture.

Ao Chao Guest House: It's splended to camp out..
Nothing soo special. The rooms has with bed of course, with a small table and 2 chairs. And a bathroom with shower.
It's depending in what you like. They have a sea view with fan, double bed and a bathroom which are 1,200baht. The other one is around there orchid garden. Standard rooms with fan, twin beds and no bathroom. Bathrooms in this rooms are being shared outside. And the showers. Daily rent is 400baht-600baht. And for the 800 baht along the garden also with fan, double bed and a small bathroom.
It's a bit expensive but considering it's infront of the beach so, from there you will paid the beach for that.
If you like camping out, you can have it. 400baht/night, shared bathrooms and with available comforter. And the color of the tent is green! But in this pic, it's blue though my shirt is green..geezzzz..=)
It's infront of the white, crystaline, sandy beach. Whe going there you might want to check the available rooms too. They can get full during the high seasons..

The Malibu garden resort: Bungalo by the beach
A very very relaxing place and a great place to spend a few days although a week would have been better.
The laid back beach lifestyle is very easy to take at such a beautiful little beach.
The bungalo's themselves are not all that spectacular even though it was comfortable. Everyone lives on the beach anyway so it didn't matter to me.
You can get your "Room service" on the beach from dozens of resturants and local Thai food vendors.
The Malibu does have a nice pool area and a free buffet breakfast too.

wonderland: dingy but bearable
got the hutlike room for 300b on the 1st night and 250b on the 2nd night. can accommodate 2 persons. room is dingy and riddled with peepholes. definitely not for honeymooners. they have decent rooms as well but for a price higher than 300
beach is quiet and less crowded compared to sai kaew or ao phai or ao phutsa. it's got its own pier. no need to go to nadan to catch a ride back to chok krisda pier in rayong.

Tonsak Resort: Beautiful one in Hat Sai Kaew Beach
Hat Sai Kaew Beach has got a name of beautiful beach so it’s the most popular beach. The long and beautiful white sand beach if you walk from north to south end you will found a lot choices of accommodation just located right on beach. The accommodations at south and north end seems to be more peaceful than in the middle. As I got there in the afternoon and didn’t book anywhere in advance. I just walked along Hat Sai Kaew Beach and look for accommodation. I walked in some places that look nice from beach and finally picked this one that I think its the most beautiful. It's in wooden style and has a restaurant where I can sit and enjoy viewing people and sea view. Although the area of the resort itself quite relaxing but beach at front is a public area where so many other people enjoy the beach with who stay at the resort.
Room's beautiful, wooden style as its name Tonsak mean teakwood. The resort has no pool. The staffs're nice. Although the area of the resort is not big but the atmosphere of the area is relaxing, has bench front of the room where you can sit and relaxing.

Wonderland Resort: Best service, people and resort
Before coming to Ko Samet i heard about the wonderland resort, and heard it was also one of the more expensive places to stay. I was here in July and had the best stay ever, we stayed for 8 days about at this place and bargained for 250 baht per night. Between 2 people and with hot water all the time. No a/c but with a fan. WIth a bungalow RIGHT on the beach. Staying here was the best choice, there were hardly any people at this place because it is more east on Ao Cho beach. Ao Cho beach does not have any bars on it that are busy, just one little little beach bar. NExt door on Ao Wong Duan beach is where more of the partying is and aswell on the northern beaches of the island. If you do decide to stay here it is very convenient to have a bike or a motorcycle rented just in case you need to go anywhere, since this beach is a little further from the northern part of the island. The people here were also great, it was a family ran place where everyone was always happy, never any problems.
The food here at the wonderland resort was the best that we ever had on this island. Once or twice a little bug in the rice, but hey welcome to asia.

Coco Lima Resort: Fantastic Resort on Koh Samet
Fantastic resort on Ao Prao Beach. Great facilities, great staff, fantastic food and seaview rooms are unbelievable!
Nice and quiet and not too busy or noisy.
Quiet hotel. Just a few steps down to the beautiful beach of Ao Prao. Restaurant is great, a little expensive for Thailand but still fantastic value for us coming from the UK, as we would normally be paying 3 times as much for this food back home. Massage available outdoors near the beach, canoes available for hire. Quite a basic hotel but that's the good thing about this hotel, which makes it very quiet.

The lost: a hostel with a perfect atmosphere
I stayed there for few night.. can't think of exact amount of dates, though..
The host there was from Holand. There you could see that he does take a good care of the house..
The room I stayed was lovely mideum sized room. it was very clean, and had great view of the woods behind it. Moreover,, it was comparatively cheap... was.. I recal cheaper than those wooden bangalores with loads and loads of red, white, black ants!!!!!

Malibu Garden Resort: Malibu Garden Resort
Travel in Thailand in April, you may have to double your budget. The hotels are double priced. We paid 2,000THB/ night, breakfast included. It was the only place available on the day we went there.
It's clean and hot water is provided. The room looks new alright. There is a swimming pool in the hotel as well. What's cool about this place is that its right on the beach. So it takes less than a few mins walk.

Tok's Bungalows: Better than Naga Bungalows.....
For only 250 Baht or so we got a bungalow with bathroom. The facilities were very clean and location was great. The food at the restaurant was tasty and had a very lively bar at night. The staff were also hard working and friendly.
Great location, staff and food in restaurant...
