Party Central

First place I stayed at on Samet run by an English lady and her Thai husband. The price was around $13 for two nights - cheap! Basic huts and stone bungalow with twin beds, a fan and own private bathroom. Showers were cold water only.
Bungalows are located on a hill up three flights of stairs ,staff were all friendly - ran free movies every night, internet and ipod service. There is also a library that you could borrow books from to take to the beach. There a chill out restaurant at the reception desk - good basic food, but there were plenty of other restaurants nearby.
Located across the road right above the beach, was the Naga bar... a great facility, except it was extremely noisey on Fri/Sat night!

Unique Quality: Not far from the beach.Great for single party people.

Very Basic bungalows, can get more for you buck..

Popular with backpackers on a budget because of its low cost but the bungalows are very basic. The shared bathrooms and showers are quite clean but the bungalows are nothing to celebrate about. There is a bakery and restaurant that has decent food. They also have a bar that can get quite lively late night. We spent 3 nights there and then moved to the next bungalow down for an extra 100 baht and it was a world of a difference. Only stay here if you're on a very tight budget ! Stay at Tok's instead.....

Unique Quality: Good location to town, lively nightlife and good bakery.
