parrots
by Aurorae
With a lovely parrot. There are many in Pattaya. Pity that it's in captivity, but he is at least more free than those in cages. He can talk (but I don't speak Thai! :))))
Actually, he COULD talk, it hs been 11 years now, who knows if he is still alive... He was also very friendly, like Thai people! :) Or maybe I love animals too much?!
Where it's at
by BorneoGrrl about Walking Street
Walking Street is quite similar to Bangla Street in Phuket. Be assured that there will be many people crowding the streets, especially the "working girls" who call you to go into their bars to spend lots of Bahts on drinks & them. There is an area I went to with plenty of bars under one roof where you can watch staged kick boxing matches. The street is closed between 7pm and midnight so you can survey the area slowly, watch people and try out some local food. Have an open mind when you come here because some of the activities may stun you, especially for someone like me.
Rent a bike
by filipdebont
If you are a bike lover, there are plenty of places where you can rent a bike.
To rent a bike in Pattaya you need a driver's license.
The price is about 500 Baht a day. It is obliged to wear a helmet.
But be careful, as you are not insured. Anyway I heard different stories of people which had an accident, which you as a foreigner must always pay for the damage. (Even if you did not caused it).
Also traffic is kind of wild here, as I walked along Beach Rd or Second Rd, I did see several accidents with these bikes.
So, these bikes that is nothing for me, I do not want to spend my holidays in Pattaya in the local hospital.
Avoid Sri Racha Tiger Zoo!!!
by khunwilko
This place would have been shut down years ago in the West........it exploits animals and they were responsible for the death of several (was it 23 or 53?) tigers by feeding them contaminated chickens.
The place is a disgrace, the philosophy behind it and the conditions the animals are kept in...I can't think why anyone would enjoy going to a torurous place like that...there should be a campaign to close it down.
