220 volts - give or take a few volts and power cuts!
SIMs are available from about 200 baht including some pre-paid credit.
I - 2 - Call are probably the best, DTac are cheaper on local calls
Find out if your mobile is unblocked....if not you can get it "unblocked" in Thailand no problem. You can also get all your numbers copied off your other SIMs.
Local calls are about 1 to 5 baht per minute
International 5 to 10 baht usually

Getting Around Pattaya
by Arjaree
An easy way to get around Pattaya is to take a "Song Taew"-- the red vehicle. I don't have a picture but once you get there, you will know what I mean. To get around, you pay about either 10, 20, or 30 THB.
Another way, you can take a motorbike taxi, or just rent a motorbike and get around yourself.
Beach Activities at Pattaya Beach and Jontiem Beac
by SLLiew
There are two major beaches.
Right downtown is the Pattaya Beach on Pattaya Bay. This is the busier beach with a lot of tourists sunbathing, getting a massage, jet ski, para sailing or going on an island boating trip.
Jontiem also has its share of high rise hotels and chalet accommodation. There are many places along the beach for families to enjoy eating and watching sunset.
Just make sure you have enough sunblock protection to avoid getting too much sun.
Para Sailing anyone??
by lightknight2
Stuck in a harness, soaring up the sky. Then the boat slows to a standstill. You lose altitude furiously, your arms clutching the steel carabina securing you to the boat.
As you plunge into the water, your mind screams for help, body half immersed. Then you regain momentum as the boat picks up speed and you soar back up, glad that this was all not a dream... Its para sailing.
My first time

"A most interesting place"
My first visit to Pattaya I stayed in the Marriott Hotel and found that to be a very nice hotel to stay in and the service was excellent. The price was a little high but i stayed on some sort of special with Visa and got it at a reduced rate. I was working at the old base at Satahip so had a little drive every day to get to work. The best thing about the Marriott was the Pool. It is large and has a bar located in it. See the picture from my room looking over the pool area.
The Hotel is just off Beach Road so it was a very short walk to the beach, but unfortunately the beach is not very clean in this area and not recommended for swimming. I fyo are looking for that at the beach i would suggest choising a different location more to the north or south.
