A beautiful, quiet, inexpensive resort hotel
by gaolei about East Sea Resort
The East Sea resort is located at the South end of the Naklua section of Pattaya near the Dusit resort. It is on a very quiet street, away from the noise of South and Central Pattaya. The rooms are separate little duplex bungalows with a front porch and chairs overlooking the large pool. The pool is a circular canal that surrounds a sunken bar and is placed in a well manicured garden.
Rooms have cable TV, a king size bed and fridge. There are people to serve you drinks and food, just like the big resorts, but with the serenity of a small resort.
If you really need the excitement of the Pattaya entertainment, just catch a Baht bus at the end of the street for a 5 minute ride to Walking Street for only 10 Baht.
The only negative is their internet service. They have a good wireless connection, but there is presently no connection through their DSL connection to the internet. I and others complained that the DSL line is not connected. They have accepted the fact that their provider has problems with the connection and it is not available. Rather than calling them and demanding that they get the connection working, they have accepted bad service and will do nothing about it. Their solution is to have you walk down the street to the other section of the hotel and use that connection. Acceptance is the way of the Buddha, but it does not provide the service needed to conduct business while at the hotel. The pool and bungalows are perfectly set in a garden envirionment away from all the noise that is Pattaya. They also have wireless internet around the pool, so bring your laptop!
The pool is an eliptical donut shape with a bar in the middle and wet seating.

by Kitty06
Hi,
I will be visiting Soi buakhao, Central Pattaya in a few months.
Any info on the area would be very much appreciated as I am getting mixed messages about the place...
I think its in the more busy/lively areas ??????
Is it safe to travel around alone?????
Thanks
Kit

I would cut Pattaya off your trip. It is a sex tourist town. Besides the sex tourism, there isn't alot going for it. The beaches aren't that great, and there is one decent restaurant. There are a couple of shows, one is ladyboys. The Thai people are really lovely, I would go elsewhere. Have a good trip.

Suasan has summed it up pretty well, although there is more than one decent restaurant. I have a couple of tips on my pages. As regards safety then I think it is as safe as anywhere else.
Regards
John

Kitty,
Pattaya is a city you will either love or hate or both whether you are male, female, rich, poor, etc. As far as sex tourism goes, it is true that this city is known for beer-bars and go-go's. But there are many other things to do in Pattaya. My wife and I spend a couple days in Pattaya every trip just for the wild nightlife. If you are into clubs, there are a lot of clubs that someone your age would most likely love. Nice theme clubs too. There are also sporting events like marathon races and golf. At Jomtien Beach you can rent a jet-ski and play for hours at a very reasonable price. There is also a lot shopping in either the bizzares or several local shopping malls. It all just depends on your personality and the kind of trip you go for. Some parts of Pattaya are dirty, I always get a sore throat if we hang around Walking Street to much. Some parts of Pattaya are very nice. There are a lot of expats in Pattaya, so surf the web for Pattaya pages, there are many. I also think it is worth seeing the sex tourism, it is a very educational experience to say the least. Pattaya was one of the first cities I ever visited in Asia while traveling with a friend who frequents Pattaya. Then I visited the disitute poverty of some of the villages, you really get an insight into why these Thai girls do what they do. It's not a matter of passing judgement. It's a matter of compassion and gaining insight. I think the practice of the international sex slave trade exists because so little attention is paid to this horrible institution. Just remember to keep and open mind. Good luck.
