Is the Alcazar show appropriate for children?
by Maullika
I am planning on visiting Pattaya with children and in-laws. Is the Alcazar show
appropriate for all ages???

In my opinion it is, I have been to see it and there is no sexual inuendo at all
the costumes and sets are fantastic, and there is a comedy act dureing the performance, when I was there I saw several family groups, almost opposite to Alkazar is Tiffany's which is eqauly as good.

I agree, I think it would be suitable. It's a big dance/variety show with fancy costumes, nothing erotic.

I agree nothing offensive about this professional show. Sets, costumes,
women(?) are all amazing. Most of the time is spent in amazement at how beautiful some of the women(?) are.

Forgot to mention when walking around at night just watch the kids when they are looking at dvd's a lot of them are porn I am not talking soft I was appalled at some of the covers I saw while browsing at night. I have to say even Walking St is ok even if most of the shows are sex shows they are quite discreet ie people outside are dressed not standing around in bikinis/underwear, very much a party kind of atmosphere kids will think they are just loads of bars clubs. Do you get my drift?

You might have to explain why guys are dressed up like women and how and why they get the big boobs!
If you are comfortable talking about "lady boys" and "katoeys" and men in drag then bring them along!
Travel Tips for Pattaya
Sun Block is a Must!!!
by voodo0
Small hand carry luggage would be enough for travellers... Coz there's nth much to shop around in Pattaya... Beachwear, sandals, sunglasses, and most important... BIKINI!!! If you don't have one... nvm... Get it there... it's everywhere... and price are really cheap after bargain... Sunblock is a must due to hot weather... Suntan lotion for those who wan a healthy tanned complexion... Pattaya's beaches, best place for sunbathing! Camera! Best with handy cam for you to capture ur most memorable moment. Lotsa lotsa cash!!! Everything is needs money there... Especially watersport... very costly. Especially Marine walker... cost a bomb!!! 1600 Baht!
GAY PATTAYA
by RoyJava about SAWADEE BOYZTOWN
Pattaya's homosexual community enjoys an unprecedented amount of tolerance considering the region. But discretion still is the rule. We walked into the super gay area of Boyztown, photographed on a rainy day. This must be a Valhalla for gays and we heard the Kathoey Cabaret is one of the best. So we went back in the heat of the night to the Boyz-Boyz-Boyz Club. Well, not all of the performers are transvestites or transgenders, but the show is phantastic, amazing.
It is bizarre, too, to watch all kind of guys, walking on the catwalk before and after the Kathoey Cabaret performance. In a row they take some poses and show their nearly naked, worked-out bodies, only dressed in underwear with a number on it. Guess why ... All kind is allowed, only when special party time special dresses are required ... (mostly on club announcement)
British grub
by Willettsworld about Nags Head
I came here every morning for breakfast of 2 eggs, toast, sausage, tea/coffee for 78 baht while other places do the same sort of thing for about 100 baht. The menu also includes plenty of English food such as lamb chops, mixed grills, and fish and chips but there is a reasonable amount of choice in the Thai department such as Laab Moo (spicy pork salad, 65 baht), sautéed mix of fried vegetables (45 baht), penang chicken curry (85 baht) and rice (10 baht).
Golden Sands
by machomikemd
The sands of pattaya can be described as golden and rough (much like waikiki beach in hawaii), white sand can be found in Koh Larn Island (coral island) about 10 kilometers away or 1 hour boat ride but the island is lacking in facilities (but it has white albeit rough sand and not powdery sugar variety). Most sections of the beach in pattaya are covered by rented deckchairs run by local beverage vendors during daylight hours (they charge 400 baht!) so finding an available spot of sand is rather difficult and also unadvisable due to the poor condition (dog feces, trash, etc.) of the beach. Visitors are advised to avoid the beach after dark. Although the Beach Road itself is busy and brightly lit, some criminal elements find the unlit beach useful as a cover for their activities. The local police have started to target this area in various ongoing clampdowns.
SCORPION's To Eat
by RoyJava
At Royal Garden Plaza you've got "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" with a museum about unbelievable, creepy things. But you really wanna get the creeps? Walk to South Pattaya where the Arab area is (behind the Walking Street). Go from Pratamnak Road to the right into Soi Diamond. There is the food evening market place with restaurants all around.
Not that far you'll see a vendor cart, a sort of mobile kitchen, at the left. Take a good look, darling! This is a luxury and DISCO first class! The family here is preparing some delicious snacks! Scorpions, cockroaches, beetles, grasshoppers, bees, maggots and other kind of bugs and insects of all sizes ...
I've seen it on TV and couldn't turn away my eyes. And for now it was a deja-vu in Pattaya. I got nailed down next to mamasan insect-preparer. Thai people are brought up with this kind of food. I know! Still this is an event of great experience, with a vengeance ... (sorry for bad quality of the pics I took the last evening in Pattaya, when rained!)
And with my next visit I'll come to watch... and maybe try one !
