Thai Massage by Blind Masseur
by filipdebont
I did get this tip from Marc, a Belgian who lives here since 5 years.
You have to walk all the way to North Pattaya, near Dusit hotel, near the roundabout with the dolphins and then you take a side street on the left. And deep in the side street you find the Sousiree Sauna Institute.
Ochh, what a very special experience, all the masseurs are blind, and I can tell you the massage here is very good, as they can not see it all happens on feeling.
The price is 100 Baht for an hour, but I always go for the two hour massage (200 Baht).
This is not a touristy spot at all, as most of the visitors are Thai.
There is also a Sauna with Herbal steam bath, which I have never tried here.
There is also a vegetarian restaurant (see my restaurant tips).
Address: 172/6 M. Soi Ping Pah, Pattaya - Naklua Road, North Pattaya
A Bus to Pattaya
by Arjaree
You can take a bus from Bangkok to Pattaya at Ekkamai Station. To go to Ekkamai Station, you can easily take the BTS skytrain to Ekkamai.
For the weekend, you should get to the station early or else you have to wait for an hour or more till your turn for the bus.
Last time I went there around 9am and I had to wait for the 11.30am bus.
Anyway, there is a bus every 30 mins. Don't bother to call the station to book, the lines are always busy.
SCORPIONS - COCKROACHES
by RoyJava about Street *B*U*G*S* Food
Friends kept begging me to put this topic with "Restaurant Tip", so here it is once more.
Probably you can find the bugs-food on the Chinese Market, where you can find the snakes, too. But when walking in South Pattaya you may watch these bug-creeps for sure at the evening market. When walking via the Pratamnak Rd. go right into the Soi Diamond, the Arab area. You'll see restaurants, food-stalls and hawkers all over the place. Somewhere in centre of this area there is mamasan insect-preparer at left-side.
When walking via the Walking Street find the Soi Diamond. Just walk on through ... Find the vendor cart. You probably will dash over this spot, not that striking. But take a good look! And see for yourself the smashing and delicious snacks the family is preparing there. Deep fried scorpions and cockroaches, sweetend grasshoppers, sugared mealworms, shining beetles, fat, huge water bugs, lovely wasps and other fresh bug creepies ...
Ehm... which one is favourite? I really donot know and considered all kind of bugs and insects of all sizes aren't that bad for our stomach. We just forgot how to eat these creeps. Maybe a deep fried whatever will be ok, with the taste of a dried prawn. Though when the fluid is coming out of its stomach, dripping in your mouth ... I guess you'll gonna be sick!
Maybe next time ... i will try again ... m a y b e I said
Jomtein Beach
by filipdebont
At some place Pattaya Beach is only 3 meters wide. That is so nice to sit.
So I already told you, that it is better to go to Jomtein beach. Jomtein Beach can easily be reached with a pick-up taxi (from 2nd road: about 20 Baht).
The beach is pretty long and at some places wide.
You can rent a chair, and there are plenty of beach vendors (sometimes too many) which are selling fresh fruits (pine apple, mango, . . .), shrimps, ice cream, T-shirts, sun glasses, wooden elephants and other souvenir gifts.
Pattaya - Thailand

"Pattaya - Thailand"
We visited Pattaya as part of a 4 centre holiday which also took in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Dubai and have to say that it was one of the worst places I have visited in the world!
Our hotel, the Sunbeam was outdated and tired with smelly rooms and the pool was out of service! It was in the middle of the bar zone which was full of Thai ladies entertaining western men and trying to drag you into their bars every time you walked by.
Walking around the resort, we didn't see much to write home about but we did enjoy fresh fish every day cooked for us while we waited at the local supermarket!! Bargain!
Would maybe try Pattaya again in the future but am in no hurry to go back and I'm usually a big fan of Thailand!!
